Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I am a proud employee of Ronald E, McNair Middle School. It's a pleasure to know each day I arrive will be a new experience. We are fortunate to work in an environment where co-workers and students actually get along and like each other. Our school has such a wholesome family feeling. Parents and visitors always complement on the welcoming environment they experience when they enter our doors. Our students have found a safe and secure environment when they come to learn. Our students enjoy learning in a school that is not afraid to think outside the lines. We are venturing into a new season of learning and our studnets are excited to be the first in our area to experience a new way of learning, We will be greeting the 2014-2015 school year as a "New Tech" school. We will be learning along with our students in this new environment, We have been fortunate enough to offer this program to our students. We are a Title I school 96% of our students are at poverty level. This new way of learning and teaching will give our students an advantage they would not otherwise receive at another school similar to our demographic area, Hard work and dedication helps our students grow.

Ronald E. McNair has made tremendous strides in a number of areas. the faculty, staff and student body has a renewed focus and renewed vigor. The emphasis is on rewarding those that are reaching their goals and assistance for those who have not. There are programs for students at all levels. Parent involvement has inproved greatly--as demonstrated by strong attendance at information forums and awards programs. Conferences are a daily occurence. Student achievement and welfare are the utmost concern. New leadership has lit the fuse to send this school into orbit.

This school was a major disappointment. The academic programs were tailored toward the lowest achieving students while the higher achievers were virtually ignored. Leadership was poor. Parental involvement was poor as well, with most parents not getting involved until they thought their child had not gotten the grade they deserved. Hopefully a change in leadership will fix these problems or South Carolina's graduation rate won't improve much.
