School highlights:
We chose this school specifically when we moved to SC...we wanted a home in the Lexington 1 School district, and in particular, Lake Murray Elementary (it was either LMES or Midway at the top of our list). We have not been disappointed at all with LMES. The administration is wonderful, very hands-on and interested in the education of its students. They offer a lot for the kids, and they use positive means of reinforcement to keep the kids in line. Focus is on EDUCATION first. It was with great trepidation that we discovered we would be rezoned for a new school being built. But it has been a blessing because part of the administration and many of the teachers at LMES have moved on to Rocky Creek Elementary School. We can be assured of the strong continuing commitment to excellence and education at our new RCES!
Excellent school with high expectations for students both academically and behaviorly! Teachers are top notch and parent involvement is encouraged!
It's been very good up until this year. I have had the opportunity to attend many of the school functions and frankly the administration has gone overboard with the way they keep the kids 'focused' - playing some bizarre music during meals to control when they talk, using 'speaking hands' to keep them in line, taking away their whopping 15 minutes of play time per 7 hours for some pretty silly stuff. It's still way too overcrowded for its size and the communication with parents is poor. My wife and I are disappointed enough in this year's experience to move them to another school so they can be kids again instead of robots.
I love the school, teachers are great, I do not have a problem with the administration really there are a 1 or 2 ladies in the office that are not that nice and seem to have a problem when you are asking them a question or needing help. But over all I love LMES!!!
Teachers care about their students. Family atmosphere.
Lake Murray is a great school. My son loves going to school each and every day. The teachers are great and very helping in making sure my son reaches his potential.
The teachers are fantastic, which makes the school great! My only problem is the administation - if you bring a problem to their attention, they seem to treat you as an annoyance and not a 'customer.' Fortunately, dealing with the administration is much less frequent than dealing with the great teachers!
LMES is a fantastic school. Our 5 kids that have attened have all been blessed with amazing teachers, caring admin and a phenomenal academic schedule. Foreign languages starting in 2nd grade, choosing a major in 5th grade (amazing art and music studies) and excellent gifted and accelerated studies programs. The also have done wonders for our child who has learning disabilities and worked with him constantly. They have many extracurricular activities and family activies also. Thank you LMES!!!!!
We have nothing but great praise for the caliber of teachers that Lake Murray Elementary offers. They challenge our children and prepare them extremely well.
This school is better than excellent! The teachers are great and very helpful. My children have loved their teachers and have learned so much. I couldn't ask for more. The principal is awesome and the school is always doing great family involved activities on the weekends and yearly. We are sad to have to move and are searching for a school that can even compare to LMES and that will be very hard to find. This school tops the charts!
