Last semester this year a friend of mine was getting sexually harassed every single day by a few students... She went and told an administrator and one of the officers at the school about it and they didn't do anything about it... Even this semester it's going on and they still haven't done anything about it. The school needs to be shut down for good. It's no place any kid should go. Hell I'm not even going to let my kids go there.. The school is hungry for nothing but money... School is supposed to be a safe place this school isn't a safe place, it can't be a safe place cause of all the bullying sexual harassment/ harassing, most teachers lack doing their jobs or don't even know how to do it I went there for 4 years and I only know of a good handful of teachers who can actually do what needs to be done. -a student

White Knoll High School is concerned about image, but in a good way. The teachers are dedicated and will stay late or come in early just to help your child. Even special needs students are treated equal and students are quick to defend them if they see less that great treatment. As far as dress code. My son says that dress code changes when teachers aren't looking but if caught it is dealt with. Education is great and the sports program is adding newer sports, like Lacrosse. Very diverse culture and lots of activities to keep students interested.

This school is very close-minded and discriminatory. The enforcement of the dress code is awful; "popular", pretty girls & girls whose parents would make a fuss don't get dress coded for revealing clothes but the rest of us MUST be conservative. Teachers turn a blind eye to bullying & self harm amongst students. Students are taught that they only need to aim as high as a technical college. Art programs (save for band) are severely under-funded. There IS a handful of wonderful teachers- funny, flexible, informative, interesting, & absolutely dedicated to the students- but they're so rare in comparison to the teachers that at best half heartedly attempt to teach & blame students for their shortcomings. The math department in particular is downright awful. My current math teacher has had year after year of intelligent students failing her honors class. Parents complain, and nothing is done to address the issue. What I dislike the most is how students who are different are treated. If you don't wear camo and boots or maintain a C average, you're wrong, and fair game for harassment. LGBTQ students in particular have a difficult time with peers, and teachers don't even seem to care.

I came on this thread and I thought i click white knolls middle to comment but made a mistake the same exact ing i am reading about white knolls high school is what i was about to say about white knolls middle. Controlling, bullying by students and teachers especially if you have something that stands out like turrets or a disability. I had teachers blatantly lie. If they zone in on your child to remove a too involved parent watch out like an army they're coming. There's too many underhanded things going on. I pulled my child out.

This school focuses more on image than anything. Most of these reviews are old and, frankly, outdated. I went there for my Freshman year just last year and was bullied and teased for my Tourette's Syndrome and anxiety disorder and not a single teacher ever said anything, even when I complained. There is too much focus on testing in the entire state and all around there is a lot of room for improvement.

I do like the school. Some of the staff act as if they care in front of administration but one on one with the parent is different. Not all but some of the staff I encountered left a lot of doubt as to are they really wanting my child to succeed. I heard one thing and saw another. The other issue I have is the no tolerence for bullying rule. I have yet to see the no tolerence part. I do, however, see the turned blind eye rule. I've seen the "lets remove your child", rule whichn is rediculous because the child being removed is not the problem. You didn't fix the problem only create more victims. These kids and parents aren't given true consequences. They are enabled.

So far so good, very good first impression. Every staff member I came in contact with made me and my child feel at home during the registration process. The JROTC program was quite informative and welcoming, my son is excited about starting this program during his second semester. I will certainly keep this site informed

White Knoll is controlling. They try to keep everyone doing the same thing but fail miserably. I'm a student there I see what goes on. They aren't doing a very good job of helping us. A lot of teachers there do care but there are a fair few that don't. Ill be glad to be out ASAP!

This school is too concerned and too focused on sports and winning awards rather than education. But hey, who cares, they're the football champions, right?

I am shocked after reading the posting of July 2, 2007. This posting was from a teacher. There were no less than 4 grammar mistakes. This is appalling. I do hope this is not an English teacher. I have been an EDUCATOR for 33 years in high school and college.

Yes, the middle and high school are very "closed" about visitors to the school, especially during lunch! It does concern many parents.

I have a tenth grader at WKHS. I have been impressed so far with the staff. Yes, the Athletics Department has had serious issues, but I believe we all will get through this.

if you think wkhs or district 1 likes parents try to go to the middle school or high school and eat lunch with your child. the school district has what they call a closed school policy and they are hiding something from parents and think by banning all parents from the lunch room will keep us from knowing!

I am a student athlete at this school and yes Coach Cagle will be missed but we have now started spring practice and Coach Walters will do a great job too. This school is a great school and can conform to any students need. This athletic program might not be what your looking for but it is getting turned around. White Knoll High School is really a great school. Keith

I have been a parent of children in this school for the last five years. I also have had to deal with many schools in the past and find this school to be so much more organized, in touch with the students needs and very active in their lives both on and off the school grounds. It is great to see the 'family' touch from WKHS. Keep up the great work! As far as the coaching... WKHS is going to lose a great coach. Coach Cagle not only teaches but coaches about life lessons. He is very concerned about the students of WKHS and is very supportive of them. He is a great encourager and is a true down to earth coach. One that will surely be missed. If you want the perfect school. Don't come cause you will only make it imperfect. If you want real join us!

We may not be like all schools in the area but we're a family. In this school, if you need something, your teacher will stay after school, before school, and even during their lunch to make sure that you get a chance to understand everything. The sports programs here are great because our coaches don't just teach us the fundamentals of the various sports, but the teach you life lessons as well that helps us mature into what we may one day become. White Knoll High School may not be the perfect school but it cares about the students that walks its halls...

The school is just not up to par with other schools in the area and around the world. Some of the teacher are great but for the most part they don't seem to care about anything but their paycheck. The principle is extremely hard to get along with. You try to communicate with her and she give you an excuse rather than a definate answer. she dosen't find solutions with you. If you want your child to do well and make it into a good university this is not the school for them.

I think the school worries about the wrong thing. For example this school worries too much on image then how the students are being handed.. Another thing the prinple of this school should worry about what is being taught in the classes then worring what people have to say about he school. Well thank you for your time.

This school is poor because of the lack of student responsibility. Students have to have everything handed to them and the level of higher learning is low. The are not preparing students for college very well.

My youngest attends WKHS. Even though there are small problems, it is still a wonderful school. So far, my childs teachers have surrounded her with as much care and concern as one could ask. If you want your child to have a good education, be involved no matter what school it is. The education of a your child is deeply rooted by what is taught and reinforced at home. If a child learns respect at home, he will naturally sit and listen in the classroom. Thats half the learning. The other half is doing the work. I found most students no matter what school I have been in are just lazy. WKHS staff care and attempt to encourage and get the best out of the students. By highschool, the students can make or break their own education. The Staff is just the frosting on the cake. WKHS has great frosting.

This school is still fairly new, but has made great strides within the last few years. overall the school is very good. With the recent staff change, the staff seems to be more supportive of kids with special needs. I have two children that attend this school. One has done extremely well. the other a special needs student hjas truggled the entire time. she finally ended this year by dropping out. I feel that for special needs children, this school lacks the adequate resources for these special needs students. They give an excellent lip service, but their actions are far from what they say. If your child is special needs, i would suggestt another. If your child is average and bright like my other child, this is a great school.

White Knoll has the best theatre department and facility a student could ask for. There is one down fall to WKHS though, the principal seems to budget money into athletics and band, way more than art and drama. Every year the stage needs to be painted, because of dance competitions held there, but the school doesnt want to front the money. It is also virtually impossible for the THEATRE students to use the THEATRE, because the school lies priority in other programs. I am very disappointed in the way they treat the fine arts, minus band. I firmly believe the theatre department should get more money to be able to provide outstanding performances. It is very hard to make do with what the department has. I think things need to be changed with how the budgets are done!

This is a very clean school. I work in the district at a very unclean school. My oldest child graduated in 2004 with honors. Obviously she great teachers. Granted, there are always a few in the crowd that are not so great. My youngest is a freshman this year and has a teacher that called just to check on her to see if she felt better than in class that day. I think that was above the call of duty. I deeply appreciate the concern for my child while under a teacher's supervision. There are always kinks in a school. Most people don't realize there are channels you must go through to get things changed, and a lot of that relies on a very slow District Office! Athletics, for the most part, I am pretty happy with. Some coaches do show partiallity toward players. That should not happen, but what are you to do, really?

Great LOOKING school. Teachers are great and willing to help students strive to do better. Great guidance staff also. But the coaches at White Knoll excluding a select few, are horrible. Somebody needs to step up and make a huge change at White Knoll regarding our Coaches. Most of them do not set good examples at all and are very out of character and just plain childish!

I am a junior at this school, and I am totally shocked about some of the reviews put on this site by some parents. White Knoll is a wonderful school, and I have always enjoyed attending it. Every school is going to have some problems; especially new schools. I am an athlete at White Knoll, and I am appalled at one of the comments made about our athletic program! Every sport offered here has a wonderful coaching staff and our athletic department sees to it that it stays that way. Our guidance office has done nothing but help me through my years here at White Knoll. They have helped me with decisions on taking the SAT and on courses I need for my major. If you have read the other remarks made about White Knoll, I strongly suggest that you disregard them because White Knoll is an awesome school!

This school has an excellent band program and the teachers do a good job of keeping parents informed of what is going on with their student. My son has been at White Knoll High School for two years now and has not had any problems. The office personnel pay attention and take care of parent concerns right away. They do seem to have an interest in my child's education. Overall, I am proud that my son goes to White Knoll. The kids I have met are extremely nice and considerate, the teachers are competent, concerned and caring for the most part, and the fron office personnel handle concerns quickly. You can't really ask for too much more as a parent.

I am a Senior at White Knoll High School. The reviews you have read previous to this are case-specific and mostly untrue. Some people do have problems with the way the school works. But, these situatuions are not common. The teachers are all high-quality educators. They talk with the parents if there is a problem, and they do care. Also, the review that said that the guidence office was not suffecient was totally false. They hold meetings for students and parents to discuss important issues, such as course planning, careers, scholarships, SAT, ACT, and more. They also give individual attention to students. Yesterday, I sent Mr. Russell an e-mail regarding a scholarship. He responded promtly, the next day. White Knoll High School is a beautiful school, and I am proud to have attended it.

We had high hopes for this school when it was built. We looked forward to the new school and a brand new athletic program that would allow more high school students to play. However, we have been highly disappointed in the fact that these coaches are always 'building for the future' they do not seem to care about the students that are in high school now. Some of the coaches spend so much time pulling up middle school kids to see how they play (and half of these will be cut before they even reach high school)that they seem to forget that they teach high school sports. they forget that the present time is our childrens time and that the younger kids will have their time when they are in high school. It is awful to think that a high school sports dream can be over before they are in high school.

We have only been in this school for a few months but I am not super impressed so far. Guidance counselors are impossible to get in touch with and there is generalized disorganization throughout. Quite a few teachers have really bad attitudes and are stand-offish to the parents and downright rude to the students. Parental involvement is non-existent for the most part.

If you want your child to be just another number, then this is the school to attend. The two years my son spent here were intolerable. Admittedly, a couple of his teachers were excellent. The principal, however, is a master of selective discipline and maintains an air of unconcern toward both students and parents.
