Personally, I think there should be more staff/student communication. Alternative School is just there because the staff is too lazy to really work with these kids. They go to alternative school and do whatever they want. I know, I went and observed for myself. We need people that are not just in the profession for the money, but because they love and care about the children's education. What happened to the old fashioned teachers of yesterday?

I have one child that is attending Johnakin Middle School. The growth of creativity is still lacking though. I was very disappointed that the princibals put the students in Alternative School so early in the year. I also hope that next year the teachers and administrators treat the students like they actually care about what happens to them and not just act like they only care about getting their paychecks.

I currently have two children attending the Johnakin Middle School. I am pleased with the leadership that the principal, Mrs. Taylor, exhibits. I do have a concern with some lack of growth of creativity within some of the classroom settings. There is a focus on test scores and I realize this can be stressful to the teachers. I wonder if the enjoyment for them has declined due to accountability demands with testing scores. My concern is a result of the minority and not the majority. Overall, my children are doing well and the staff provides a productive learning environment.
