Long Cane Academy (3K-12) and founded in 1974, is fully accredited by the South Carolina Association of Independent Schools. Long Cane enjoys an excellent pupil-teacher ratio of 6:1, and offers high school students a choice of Honors College Prep, College Prep and Tech Prep programs of study. Test scores on the annual Stanford 10 Achievement Test are well above the national average. The academy has a dual-enrollment program with Piedmont Technical College. With emphasis on family values in a small South Carolina community, the academy also has a non-denominational Christian curriculum fused into the regular school program featuring weekly chapel assemblies. Students enjoy opportunities for athletic participation in a comprehensive interscholastic program -- including football, girls volleyball, basketball, baseball, golf and FCA. Student activities also include competitive academic team competitions, drama participation in the annual Cavalier Dinner Theater and lower school operetta, and the LCA Student Art Show.

I debated for a long time about whether to send my children to Long Cane or the public school. I finally decided on Long Cane and it was the best choice I've ever made. The children are so eager to go to school. The atmosphere is so nurturing and the school feels like a big family. My children want to go to school and learn. I was worried about the academics but the small class size means they get individual attention and are able to work to their full potential. I highly recommend this school as a viable option to the public school.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
