I have an extremely intelligent child and every year all of her teachers push her and challenge her - something you usually don't find in a public school. The faculty is great, and you have a real sense of 'school community' at River Ridge.
So far so good. I wish the first grade teachers were better equipped and more willing to work with the kids who already know the material. First grade caters to those kids who need to catch up. The higher grades 2 and up are better at working with the smarter kids. Mr. Henson does his best but it does seem that in many cases there is not much he can add to the core curriculum. His hands are tied by the constraints of the school district and testing. I recommend that parents supplement their child's learning to ensure a full well-rounded education. There is not enough focus on science and math at this school because it is 'reading centered' which is great...if you need to learn how to read. If a parent is really involved&willing to enhance their child's learning by teaching math and science this is the perfect school.
The faculty works together to provide the best learning environment for each individual child. My child has special needs and his special education teacher is the best at not only teaching him, but loving him for who he is.
my son loves river ridge he is in a special education program, and they have really helped him learn and pay attention they have done more with him than he has allowed me to do. you dont find many schools with this much compassion. all the teachers there are wonderful.
River Ridge is the best school I have come across. From the classroom teachers, to the art, PE, and science teachers, they all strive their hardest to make all the children feel welcome and special. Mr Henson and Ms Sima learn the names of ALL the students in the school and welcome them to school each morning. Ms Sima makes a point to wear a silly hat every morning as she welcomes the children to school. My boys love it!
River Ridge is a great school. They have teachers who care and who look at for the best interest of your child. They support sevices available to help with individual educational plans if your child needs extra attention in a particular area. The prinicipal and assistant prinicipal are great. They know the children by name and have unending enthusiam and compassion for the children and for role as advocates for the children to make sure they get the best education that they can. The leadership has the philosophy that parents need to be involved and have multiple opportunities for parents to be involved in the school system. They include parents input on important issues and improvement projects.
im very pleased with this school my son went through the entire elementary achool and my daughter is in 2nd grade everyone is friendly and helpfull! They Love it there !
Mr Henson shows what a principal needs to be. It is his life not just a job. He and his assistant will always tell you that if you need them for anything the door is always open. You can just tell that they love the children and want them to have the best education possible.
