School highlights:
Pinckney Elem is an excellent school! If you are zoned for this school and you have your child in a private school, you are wasting your money. The academics are strong and the parental involvement is wonderful. The teachers are qualified and know how to teach. I don't think there is a better school in the district or state.
Our children moved from a '10' school in Carlsbad, California to Pinckney Elementary for the 08-09 school year. Our '10' school in California became that way from extensive parent involvement and a majority affluent population. Now, I know that the California school administration had absolutely nothing to do with the schools success. What sets Pinckney apart from other highly rated schools is it's extremely effective management. The school does a great job of balancing the needs of vastly different abilities through just plain smart use of my children's time and my taxpayer dollars. This allows already great teachers to do an even better job!
Awesome, awesome, awesome! This school knows how to engage the children in a fun learning experience. There is a perfect balance between academics and fun. This is the first year that my son couldn't wait to get dressed in the morning to go to school. He is a very bright student and the school has been very creative in challenging him. I can't say enough good about this school. The feel is warm, fun, and the teachers seem to enjoy their jobs.
I totally disagree that this school is lacking in the arts area. First of all, the school has an annual arts week called Pinckney Palooza where outside artists come in for a week long event. The students are exposed to music, art, dance and history. My children are constantly teaching me new songs learned in music class and they sing in the car instead of argue. This is a great school in every aspect, especially in the arts.
I could not be more pleased with this school. Everything about it is wonderful. My daughter loves her teachers and everything about the school.
this is such a great school to go to. the kids learn how to connect to the teachers and learn to connect with other students
Before my child was diagnosed with ADHD he had a very difficult time reading among other things. The staff worked very hard to get him outside classroom assitance, first in a group of three students and then on a one-to-one basis. Once he was diagnosed, he caught up with his reading level and became a Terrific Kid for the last nine weeks. They did not jump to assumptions about ADHD but rather gave him the help he needed and suggested he be diagnosed by his personal physician. The whole staff is very caring and professional.
Pinckney Elementary School is a very friendly school with great teachers. Everything about the school is awesome except one thing. The state has an end of the year test, PACT, that the teachers center what they do in the classroom around the test.
The academic programs are sufficient. I find the music, art, sports and other extracurricular activities are severely lacking. Our children are the one suffering the most because of this. From what I have seen parent involvement has always been pretty high. I am sure there can always be more. but I think the kids are pretty happy with the parents involved right now.
Academics are fine. Advanced TAG type courses are available. We found Pinckney to be an excellent, organized school. Many of the teachers have Master's degrees. The front office staff was always present to inform visitors and volunteers. We regularly saw the principal and the vice principal in the halls. It was not unusual to see the VP sit down to lunch with the students. The PE teachers were creative and fun and worked with the equipment they had. The floors and facilities were kept clean. Student journals came home daily for parents to read messages. The children's writing journals are a keepsake of their growth during the year. Pinckney offered living history such as pioneer crafts or colonial breakfasts. Learning was creative and fun! Students were aware of behavioral expectations. Emphasis on poistive rewards. Involved PTA. Fun fundraisers. Moved due to job/seen 5 elementary schools. CPE is a great school!
