School highlights:
Apparently if your child is in the top of his class in Marion school district one, PDA must have given him a pretty good foundation. My children attend PDA and have since K4, they are in the 3rd and 6th grades now. I personally attended public and private schools and benefitted from the smaller classes that private schools offer. Another important aspect is that they have not taken God or Jesus out of the school, which has been a major downfall in our public school system.
My child goes to public school in Marion School district one and is ranked in the top of his class great SAT scores and is doing great. He is in 10th grade now, when he attended PDA he was was not treated like the other students. MSD1 has a great public education program!!!
I have been professionally and personally associated with PDA as well as public schools in Marion and Horry Counties since 1963. PDA stands out in quality of education, focused students, faculty, administration, and families. Parents are very supportive, involved, and are heard by the board and administration. The focus is on academics, a sound, safe, moral environment with concerns set on developing the 'whole student'. This includes sports, academics, leadership, christianity, social, and moral development. It truly is the best valued education available with the cost being minimal as compared to the money spent in public education. Public schools are quick to implement 'new' unproved and experimental practices and curriculum whereas PDA still produces academic excellence with tried and true practices and concepts with successful graduates going into a variety of colleges and professions. Parents are willing to pay taxes and also tuition to provide the best education for their children.
I agree Pee Dee Academy is probably the best place for education in Marion County, but the extra-curricular activities & elective classes could use some improvement. Along with air-conditioning in the gym & the main highschool bathrooms...& maybe the locker rooms. but other than that Pee Dee is a great place to go to school & the teachers are wonderful! :)
PDA's academic scores on my record are A+! My little brother goes to PDA has he has become a different person. AT PDA the teachers are very skilled and help you one-to-one if you need the extra help. At Pee Dee the parents are involved and the students are very well mannered. The school is a nice, clean, enviroment just right for children and adolescents to be in.I plan to go to PDA next year and I think I will have a great time at PDA. I give PDA an A+ on eveything that has to do with them.
The academic programs are excellent! Music classes have been very valuable. Our teachers are so great! Sadly, art was largely cancelled this past year due to unforseen circumstances. I'd love to see art class in full swing this coming year. I would like to see the gym available for the lower grades when the weather is inclement, rather that sitting in a classroom watching a video during that time. Parent involvement is encouraged and my husband and I have enjoyed the opportunities. We would greatly love to see the children with a stricter uniform-like dress code to eliminate the obsession with being a fashion plate, children as young as the kindergarteners dress to impress. The upper school kids have modesty issues. They are there to learn, not emulate bratz dolls, this only hurts feelings. Individuality can be expressed in academic achievement, helpfulness, and a sunny dispoition rather than clothing.
I would agree that Pee Dee Acadamy is by far the best choice in schools for the area. The teachers truly care about the students and their academic and personal growth. It is very safe and I would recommend it to anyone.
Both of my children started Pee Dee Academy in the 3 year old kindergarten program prior to its elimination and now they are in the 10th and 12th grades. I cannot stress how impressed I've been with the quality of the education they've received at Pee Dee Academy or the safe environment they have been allowed to experience. The small student body allows the staff and administration to know each student by names along with their strengths and weaknesses allowing each student to maximize their education. Pee Dee Academy is definitely the best education available for children in Marion County.
Pee Dee is the best place for a child to get an education in Marion County. The classes are smaller so the teacher has more time to deal with students on an individual basis. The staff is just an added benefit. All employees are very giving and interested in seeing the children be all they can. Discipline is also very strict. This helps lessen class disruptions. Overall I give PDA an A plus !!
