Ocean Bay is a wonderful school. They are very involved in the community and place each child first. I am blessed to have my child in the care of such wonderful loving teachers

Ocean bay is over crowded, the homework they send home is a joke ( a photo copied page out of a work book with only half the information you need to complete the assignment.) They wait until the last minute to request money for school projects and parties. The teachers do not keep in contact with the parents. this school has left a very bad taste in my mouth and we've been with them for almost 3 years.

This is my daughters first year at Ocean Bay. I have to say I was very excited to get her into such a great school. I love that this school is more challenging. The education is so much better then the upstate. The only thing I have not been to happy with is the communication. I have sent notes with question/concerns to her teacher w/o responses. I have to say it is very important to have great communication btwn the parent and teacher. I sometimes feel as if I am a bother to my daughters teacher. I guess I will have to wait and see what happens next yr!

I had both my children enrolled there and I am utterly disgusted. There were several problems one being that the busdriver took my 10 year old and left my 7 year old w/ adhd by himself, running after the bus....she saw him as reported but left anyways...horry county police picked him up on the side of 31 when asked what are you doing ? going to school. When i went and asked Ms Ward what happened she didn't even pull the tape of the bus activity until I demanded to see it, watch out these are the people you leave your precious cargo with to take care of everyday...angry

I have 2 children in this school. It is thier second year at OBE. Last year I thought it was a great school. This year everything has changed. It might be the county's fault and not the school, but it is impossible to get them to challenge my child. The math is waay to easy for 2nd grade and the homework they both come home with can not even be considered homework. The teachers are great and nice. My children are just not being pushed to what they're level is. I would recommend this school compared to the other ones in the area.

Our family has had two children in OBE since it began two years ago. As it enters its third year, we are proud to be part of such a wonderful school. Despite overcrowding challenges, the administration, staff and faculty have done an excellent job - putting children and their education and safety first! In a push to increase volunteer numbers, we have found new and innovative programs and plans underway to make OBE the best it can be for our children. We are VERY proud to be an OBE family member!

I love this school! The teachers and staff are wonderful! I would never send my child to any other school. To those who have had problems with this school...any new place is going to have its problems...so get over it! This school may not be up to your standards so move back to where it is you came from and make Carolina Forest and 501 less crowded with people like you!!

My daughter went to this school the first year it open for 1st grade. The teachers have no control of classrooms and the children were not expected to respect them either. The math (Everyday Mathematics) that is taught is a joke and that parents can't even understand it to help their children. And don't bother asking for a meeting after school because you won't get it!! Yes, the staff at the drop off is rude, they are also rude and unorganized at the front desk as well. They also loose paper work and have to be hounded by another school for transcripts after 4 months into the school year!! If we would have had to live in MB any longer, then I would have home schooled my daughter!! And the PTO only wants your money. Look at their quarterly report on how much of the food for the dinner was donated that parents paid for before a meeting.

This school has exceeded our expectations by far, and my daughter who is in Mrs. Vereen's first grade class loves it and is doing excellent. It is a nice new school, just in its second year and despite the growth in the area and student population, the administration has done a superb job with everything along with keeping teacher/student ratios low.

Ocean Bay Elementary is a wonderful place for kids to learn, families to grow and thrive, teachers to teach in a positive atmosphere where they are respected, and a community of learners connected to Ocean Bay Middle School and the Carolina Forest network. My daughter started kindergarden here in 2006. She loves Ocean Bay. The teachers are great. The staff that greets the parents and children in the morning at drop off are quite rude, but overall the quality of education, teacher involvement, and communication with parents is good. I highly recomend this elementary school to all new residents.
