The teachers in this school seem out of control and seem like they would rather send the children home than to teach them. This week alone i was called at home 6 times about my 4 year old and none of it was discipline related. We have to work and the kids need to learn. If they send them home they use that as an unexcused absence then call you fifty million times wanting an excuse.

The teachers act like they can't or don't have control over their classrooms. They constantly call parents at work and home for every little thing. As adults and parents I feel that the teachers should exhibit authority because children will run the class if you allow them. I can probably understand if they was teaching teenagers but they are teaching babies and should have control. I find that teachers at this school have not patience and therefore should think about a new career or another job setting.

Mellichamp students are denied the chance to express their creativity. The Principal wanted the students to wear uniforms and got the votes from parents and made uniforms mandatory. Students that came to school not wearing the uniforms were escorted to the office. While in the office these students missed instruction time. There were students in the office sitting on the floor waiting for parent pickup. Students that did not have transportation were transported by the Principal. Children should be allowed to make choices and having to wear a uniform from Pre-K to 5th grade is like having a life sentence. Mellichamp is to rigid and strict on the wrong thing. Children at this school can be denied lunch or breakfast because of not having on their uniform. Students can be suspended if they don't do their homework and homework counts as ten percent of their grade.
