School highlights:
WCCS is a Christian school that also happens to be well above the average academically. The teachers are dedicated to the students, but parents are expected to participate in their child's education.
WCCS provides excellent spiritual instruction and strong academics. Our family has been involved in WCCS since my child has been in 3K. The teachers teach the heart of the child. The leadership leads with God's plan in mind. God truly has His hand on WCCS.
What a wonderful experience my son had this year at WCCS. The teachers' commitment to Biblical integration is top-notch. Master teachers are in each grade level. Teacher-parent communication is superb. I would not want my child to be any other place. He has been loved, cherished and accepted.
This school has blessed our family for over eight years by providing a solid academic education with a biblical worldview within a nurturing, caring environment. The teachers we have had over eight years truly care about each child, and love and pray for the children. They have high standards and the children are safe and happy here. I do agree that the school would be better off with a change in leadership, as many families have lost faith in the upper school administration, but the school itself and the teachers are wonderful. WCCS has been a blessing to our family.
WCCS has been a blessing to my family. The teachers care about students and go above and beyond to make sure they are successful. We chose WCCS because we wanted the beliefs and teaching in our home to be reinforced at school. They definitely received a biblical worldview at WCCS and it has influenced how they approach life. My children received an excellent education in a caring environment that encouraged them to pursue God s purpose for their lives. WCCS is a great school.
Our kids have been at WCCS for eight years. Every school has its share of drama. However, over the last three years, the new administration has turned WCCS into a very dark and oppressive place. Never in my life have I seen Christian leadership destroy so many lives. I can't even begin to tell you all the unethical, unchristian things that have gone on there. I feel so bad for the teachers that are still there...they need there jobs. So very sad...
I am so sorry that the student from Florida has to experience Westminster Catawba Christian School at it's worst. The school use to be a great school, but many things have changed and it is not for the best. The new leadership has gotten rid of many good teachers and it is not because they did anything wrong. Many people are trying to expose the wrong things that are happening at the school and teachers are loosing their jobs, families are being kicked out of the school, school board members are resigning, teacher morale is the lowest ever, and bad teachers are being hired and rewarded. The head of school was caught plagiarizing and he admitted it to the school community through the school newsletter. How can a school expect students to follow the rules when the head of school doesn't? There are many problems at this school and there is tremendous dissatisfaction across the board.
First off, I am a student. After moving to South Carolina from Florida, where I was in public school, my parents enlisted me into the school. To begin ranting, the teachers are terrible - for example, the math teacher who gives homework on quiz or test nights and checks it the next day - usually meaning that there isn't time to finish the said quiz or test. Next, the punishments seem to be always changing. You can have your phone out in the OLSAT tests and not get in trouble, then get yelled at for whispering in the next period. May I also add that the eighth grade curriculum at the school is almost the exact same as my seventh grade curriculum? I even know most of the history from third grade, when I lived in Columbia, SC. There are a few good teachers, but there isn't a way to enjoy the school. I don't feel like I'll be prepared for the rest of schooling if I stay here. I have an IQ of 140, however, so I've been in advanced classes for the majority of middle school - which, I am guessing, is why the classes feel so redundant and easy. I don't know one person that actually likes the school, and I don't see any reason why anyone should.
My children have been at WCCS for six years. We could not be more pleased with the academic, spiritual, and social atmosphere. I would recommend WCCS to anyone looking for a quality Christian and college prep education. Our students regularly score higher on the standardized tests and gain this education in a safe and nurturing environment. The sports programs are competitive and give students who might not have access to sports in a large public school the fun of participation. We are blessed to be a part of WCCS
I'm a student at WCCS. I've been here for my whole life. I LOVE it there! All of the teachers are EXTREMELLY nice and helpful. The kids all have a sort of respect for one another. At this school, I'm also not influenced my drugs or alcohol, like some of my friends at public schools. I feel like I'm getting a great education in a wonderful Christian environment. The sports teams are great, too. The coaches really take the time to bond with the kids and really get to know them!!! I love the fact that I'm free to talk about my problems with anyone there because they will listen, and most likely give a great Biblical response to help me out. I LOVE WCCS!!!!!
