Ok so i attend Lake Marion High School and honestly it is not a bad school yes we have problems here and there but for the most part i love my school especially our old and new principle. i was also one of those city kids that came to the country and thought it was the worst thing in the world. but after being in this school and seeing how much they really did care and want the best for all of us i truly have a change of heart. And for everyone that stated we kids have no respect its not all of us and you're going to find kids all over the world without respect so don't be so fast to judge us THANKS :)

Lake Marion is not the best school but it is equipped with mostly all that is needed. There is not one perfect school. Staff members should allow students to give their opinions. Its simple if the child is taught respect at home it will follow them into the school so lets not get into blaming schools; Lake Marion High &Technolgy needs to improve just as much as the other school!

Decided to bring our student out of the city to the country in hopes that the location of the school and it's teachers dedication to helping promote the education of the child would help her get back on the right track. Boy was i wrong!! discipline was little to none. Rather than help the parent and child face issues at hand there was very little parent/teacher interaction and when it was some type of meeting, the parent ended up feeling like their envolvment wasn't enough to help promote the child. Students walk out of class when they got ready too. Discipline actions meant little to any of them. For a school that is suppose to promote education and even the alternative part of the school supposedly being one that helped children with issues, my student suffered because she needed that extra push to do right and not just from home.

Exactly what you would expect from a traditional minority school. Behavior is a problem with little teacher support from the District and new Supt. Instead of using established practices that work, every year the District administration trries to reinvent the wheel. Teacher moral is low, overt racism exists, and that old adage that the inmates run the institution is the norm. When a student does absolutly nothing for the first two quarters, teachers have to 'give' them a grade of 60 or above, regardless of their average. A student makes a 0 for only placing his name only on a test, at the end of the grading period he must have a 60. This is to insure that he will not find it too hard to catch up when he decides to work in the second semester. Extra curricular activities are a joke, the students have very little to pick from.

Very poor school. Kids have no respect for teachers. The few that want to learn can't due to the horrible behavior of others. Teachers are underpaid, underappreciated, and treated horribly by all.

My children attended Holly Hill Public Schools from 1993 - 2006. They loved the elementary school and they both hated the Lake Marion High School and Holly Hill Middle. I felt as a parent that my kids were not safe and the teachers didn't care if the students learn or not. The teachers their are only there to receive a paycheck. The district office could care less about your child. Dr. Longshore could care less what the parents have to say. As long as he looks good that is all that matters. We have moved and the school system we are in now is wonderful. I wish I had moved my kids years ago. I feel sorry for the students in Orangeburg School District #3.
