School highlights:
I have had three children attend Northside. This schools leadership and devotion to children and their education is a Wonderful. Geoff Smith is the principal and he does a wonderful job. The teachers are caring and are willing to give the parents feed back on what their children are learning and what their child may need help with. As a parent communication is important and Northside Elementary always makes that an important standard. Thank you for caring about children. May God Bless.
im not a parent at northside elementary school i went there as a student i loved that school and will always miss it. I had a few rough times there a death of a very close freind of everyone past away i had alot of support from all the teachers and counslers it is a great school for learning and fun it was literally my homw away from home from monday to friday.
As a parent of a Northside Elementary student, I have seen the staff truly work to 'know' each student. My son's teachers have provided many visuals and hands-on applications to instill understanding of a particular subject. Overall, the children of the school are happy and friendly. I also get that same feeling from the staff. Last year, my son participated is an after school book club. They offer Scouts, 5th grade strings ensemble, and Spanish, to name a few. The field trips are generally to events ranging from musicals/plays at the area performing arts centers to zoo visits to area colleges and more. The parental involvement is rather strong and supportive of the school through fundraising, class volunteering, lunches and cookie exchanges for the staff and assisting with school improvements. The music, art and P.E. programs have instructors who demonstrate a genuine love of the students and their work. It is evident through the kids! The computer technology offers easy accessible to students in their classes plus there is a computer skills lab. I have been impressed with these skills, even powerpoint presentations by students! Research, writing and reading are woven throughout the curriculum. I have been very impressed with the 'Read to Recovery' program to assist with reading. I could continue but I think you get the picture. A quality staff and interactive parents make Northside a great foundation for my child to be a 'Learner for Life!'
My daughter has been a student at Northside for nearly 4 years now. I have been so impressed with the atmosphere of the school that it was my primary consideration in choosing a new home. Geoff Smith, the principal, sets and demonstrates a professional (yet caring) standard for this unusually gifted staff. They know and care about the students as individuals, not just as test scores. Academically,I have been extremely pleased with my daughter's education and skills. There are a variety of ways in which students of all ability levels are encouraged to succeed. The school facility itself is well-maintained, clean, and inviting. Oconee County is fortunate to have this school and its staff as a part of its school district!
