Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Timberland High School is a great school to attend. Not only do we have a great athletics progarm and extracurricular activities but our teachers do a wonderful job with the resources they have. No, we do not get as many opportunities as some of the big schools, but I believe the school does a great job with what they got. I was accepted to every school i applied to and the guidance department has always supported me. Many people have graduated from Timberland and have excelled in more than just sports. I would not have chosen to attend any other school.

Current 4 yr principal retiring after 2009-10. He made great improvements in safety & dsiipline. My student (1st yr @THS) was exposed to tobacco use in 1 classroom & limited drugs on campus. Parent involvement poor. I paid PTSA dues at beginning of yr & never heard about a meeting or activity. School spirit good. Athletics strong. Education poor. Only 2 AP courses offered. Honors classes are a joke compared to other schools. Only 3 students scored 1300 on SAT & that only happened this year! Teachers encountered were nice, except one. Don't push to complete courses, though! Guidence lacking communication & experience with gifted students & out-of-state colleges. THS produces more pro athletes than Palmettow Fellows....What does that tell you?!

I think the pricipal has done a lot to get the school back in line as far as behavior. But as for the teachers, they need to understand that even thought these kids are teenagers they still need some patience and understanding. Many life events take a bigger toll on these kids as they learn adulthood. The guidance counselors leave a lot to be desired as well. They dont seem to really have the compasssion or knowledge to guide these kids into the direction they need. Most have same answer to my childs questions concerning her course of study at high school as well as not being very organized or knowledgeable about college applications and course of actions to take to find results she has answers about.

This school could offer so much more and to be honest, I feel other schools deserve a higher rating. We are very successful in the athletics department but not really in the education. I feel awful for saying this, but I mean when I seen this rating, I was shocked.

I go to this school and believe me, it may be small but it is a very good school. This is a school that really cares about their students. This school also has a very good athletic club. Let's not talk about the football team. The athletic director Art Craig is a very good man to look up to, belive me i should know because i played for him for the last three years. So overall Timberland is a very good school to attend.

A quality ed is available to students who are willing to work for it. The teachers are great, hardworking, care about the students. I've been disappointed in the lack of parent involvement.

I have to say as a former graduate of Timberland, it was by far the best school i have ever attended. Timberland has a great deal of spirt and love for there students. For the years I spent at Timberland I gained the confidence to follow my dreams from the staff and friends. I have enrolled in Maryland Unitversity and working on a degree in Civil Engineering and I have finished my class in Japanese languages.
