The district needs to improve the quality of parent/teacher communication by utilizing updated communication devices i.e. the e-mail (which does not always work) and by installing an automated phone system whereby parents can receive information regarding absences, tardies etc. Moreover, teachers should also utilize their web pages to post up-to-date information regarding children's academic progress: i.e. tests, projects, grades. This rural school has overcome great racial and financial challenges in the last decade to achieve some great student results. The appointment of board members who have a vested interest in the schools of Calhoun County has precipitated great academic success. However, the Board needs to appropriate funds that will address the new information technology age.

I honestly don't know how or why this school hasn't been completely overhauled. My child was a A-B average student until we moved to this county and was placed in the school system here. I saw previous comments of the grammar used in message contents. Believe me, its used by the teachers there also. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!! I would have never known, if I hadn't witnessed for myself. I watched for a solid year as my child slowly declined in grades. I made numerous attempts to contact teachers with more than half the time no response. I pulled her out this year and she has rebounded. There are no options when it comes to public schools in this county. My advice is to keep searching for a great school district somewhere else.

Some of these reviews make me glad I've never gone to this school. The grammar in the reviews is horrible. You people should be embarassed. "I believe Calhoun Couty Gigh school should do better. Submitted by a student" really? This review couldn't sound less intelligent if it was written by a 1st grader. "We was also ranked as one of america's best high school's. Not to mention that we made AYP 2 Year's in a row and we are waiting for the results to come in for this school term.I wouldnt trade my school for anything else in the world." We was?!? I also like how she gave the high school an appostrophe. (high school's) I don't want to offend or hurt anyone I just think it's ridiculous how our school systems have gone down the drain.

The only disconcerting thing about this district is the school board's lack of productivity in doing what is in the best interest of its student. The majority of the school board members have no vested interest in the school community because their children do not attend its schools. They have fed into their ancestral, prejudicial and archaic views that the educational expectations of black students should at best be sub-standard. However, the students have proven them wrong time and again. Academically, this average school has produced above-average students. The teachers, with the limited resources that they have, are producing excellent results. I am proud to be a former graduate. I am a college grad and will be pursuing my doctorate soon.

I am currently a junior at Calhoun County High School and I think that Calhoun County High School is a very good school that you would want your child to attend. Calhoun County High School is use to overcoming obsticles that come in our way. We was also ranked as one of america's best high school's. Not to mention that we made AYP 2 Year's in a row and we are waiting for the results to come in for this school term.I wouldnt trade my school for anything else in the world.

Hi I am a student at Calhoun County High and I think Calhoun County High is a great school. I am a senior and really enjoy attending Calhoun county High. The teachers really push the students to make Calhoun County a more successful learning environment. The teachers do their part but it's totally up to the students whether they want to learn or not. We as students are not babies anymore the teachers shouldn't have to tell us to do this and do that we should know to do these things by being young adults.
