School highlights:
My son is finishing his first year there, we live this school. To the parent who wrote they hate this school because of a locker, really you need to grow up. A locker, is the reason you hate something you need to really need to see what the school is about because it's clear you don't. A locker, really, get a life.
I have a rising eigth grader and a rising sixth grader attending RMSA. It's not a perfect school, but my children are proud of attending their school. For the older child, attending RMSA has been a life-changing experience. There are wonderful, talented and committed teachers but also average or slightly below average teachers too. The atmosphere of the school is exciting and focused on academics and arts. Very positive place overall!
I hate this school it's very annoying my son was so unhappy about not having lockers thatwas the only thing he wasexcited for and he didn't get to do it we are very unhappy.
I just graduated from Rollings, and am headed on to high school. I have to say, this is an awesome school. The teachers are all very helpful, and so is the rest of the staff. Since it a a relatively smaller school, they really get to know all of the students. The students are great too. There were absolutely NO fights or anything major to go one in the years I went there. Sure, the kids will act the same; you will have your cliques and so on and so forth, but there aren't any major problems. The sports teams are getting better and better, and the coaches are great! I was on a lot of the sports teams, so I would know :) Anyways, this school has a great atmosphere and I encourage everybody to try out!
this school is a really fun school, and most of the teachers are awsome. since its an art school you can miss a few classes every now an then to watch a play or dance performance, which i'm sure every student would like. there is never any fights in this school, but there are lots of cliques.more than half the girls at the school are mean, and will make fun of you because of what you look like or, what you wear,or who you hang out with.
Rollings is by far a great experience for any middler schooler. I have had 2 children at the school. The pricipals, teachers, and students are like a family. The curriculm is quite challenging especially the GATE classes, but the students gain so much from them. If there is a problem teachers are easily reached and the conferences reach resolution quickly. Student are there because they want to be there. They work hard and it pays off. It has been a wonderful experience.
I am currently a 7th grader at this school and my experience has been extraordinary. You really feel welcome when you walk through the doors. Academics aren't the only things that excell at rollings, the sports are great too. i encourage anyone to try out.
RMSA has such a unique learning environment. When I walked in the front door today, the vocal class was singing beautifully. And kids were visible on the stage of the auditorium receiving instruction from their teacher. Classical music is often playing throughout the school. It puts me in mind of the school Hillary Duff's character attended in the movie 'Raise your Voice.' My daughter is a Visual Arts student and she loves her experience at Rollings. They are top notch and a recipient of Palmetto's Finest last year!
Rollings is without a doubt the best school in the state. The teachers are absolutely top-notch, and they create a 'family' atmosphere where kids are challenged, encouraged and respected. Parents are welcomed, and kept informed. My 6th grader is excited about learning and wants to go to school every day. She feels confident and accepted. While the district continues to sacrifice quality in Dorchester II schools for growth and place emphasis on athletics vs, arts and academics, Rollings remains a safe, supportive, nurturing, fun environment for those students who are fortunate enough to attend. Do whatever it takes to get your child to the audition!
I have two children at this school. I feel fortunate to live in a school district that places such a high value on arts education in addition to academic excellence. This school has to be one of the best in the country.
