I am a student of DuBose middle School. I have been for three years and those three years were the best years of my life. And I have to enjoy it, because I'm leaving soon. There are some bulling issues, but that's for people who can not be quiet and gossips. All the teachers that I had and still have are wonderful and helpful people. All the related arts teachers are really fun and still have discipline. If you are wondering if you should send your kid to this school, all I have to say is that If they are a good student, they will have no problem. Administration are really nice and so is the nurse. The school is very clean and nice.

I am a former student of dubose middle school (2006 to 2007 and half way through 2007) and let me tell you in dubose It was a pretty bad school year you see when i was there i had to deal with constant bullying by the student body and let me tell you if you go to dubose do NOT go into specal ed becuase that is just like spraying a sign saying bully me.teachers i admitt are ok but they could care a bit more about students school life like bullying. and the principal (not sure if he is gone or not) during my year and a half when ever i got sent to principals office he would try multiple things belive it or not he once said i could get arested just by talking a lot in the real world. and that year the new bully policie at schools activated meaning if a kid atacked me and that happened around 12 to 14 times and i fight back defending myself i would get in as much trouble i have one thing to say to that policies NO WAY!!!! What do you want me to get beat up.if i had a choice between getting hit possibly possibly badly hurt and fighting back and tacking BIR i am picking BIR every time. BUT the teachers can be nice and food is decint other than what i listed the school is ok.

We got transferred to this school From OMS due to some bullying issues my son was dealing with from other students. He went from getting straight A's to becoming an avg student at OMS. We have heard great things about the adminstration here and lets just say what we heard is correct. They really crack down on bad behavior and because of that my son loved this school. Although our house is up for sale now which is fine, I don't want to deal with the admin at OMS with my other 3 boys. We have never been more impressed with the teachers wanting to actually "teach" the students instead of making them feel like at OMS they were being bothered. Don't always compare the report card ratings read the parent comments before you choose a school for your kids.

So far I have been adequately impressed with the GATE program at Dubose. I was concerned about a great math teacher quitting during the first 9 weeks this past year. Mr. Farrell is a scary looking dude and seems to have the kids respect. The communication is great once you ask for it and with any school it is only as good as what the parents put into it as well. I have liked all the GATE teachers so far.

Dubose has the best group of teachers in the State and they have such a passion for teaching. They encourage and support their students to be successful-they make the students want to not only set but also achieve high(er) goals for themselves. The efforts of the teachers and principals were undying. There was always extra help(tutoring) available and always a pleasant, positive atmosphere.

I have a son in the 9th grade at Summerville High School. He was a student at 2 middle schools before being enrolled at Dubose middle school. He had been in and out of trouble at the previous middle schools. The principals at Dubose made every effort to give my son a fresh start. He was very reluctant to take this offering and he continued to do everything he could to get out of school. It was the undying efforts of Mr. Farrell and his staff that finally convinced my son that he was taking the wrong path. He eventually got his act together and actually passed his 8th grade year. I give all the credit to Mr. Farrell and his staff for my son's success. He continues doing well in school today.

The new administration is doing a great job! As a active parent who is at the school on a weekly basis, I can honestly say I am impressed with the atmosphere of the faculty and student body. We would like to see more parental involvement but that is with every public school.

I am a parent of a DuBose Middle School student. I have been involved with other Middle Schools in the area and feel as though DuBose Middle School is superior to the others. I fully appreciate the efforts set forth by the current administrative staff at DuBose. The teachers are highly motivated and very much supported by the administration. Education is the primary goal at DuBose but there is emphasis placed on a well disciplined and structured student body.

I am a former DuBose student (currently a freshman at Summerville High School) and I was very disappointed with this school. The principals are out of touch with the many problems facing their student body, which include a lack of motivation and pathetic test scores. The academic atmosphere is unchallenging and bland, and those teachers that do try and make up for this (English I teacher Mrs. Bozier being my favorite) are met with criticism from both students and parents. This is an ernest plea to all of the students of DuBose to learn, not slack off, because SHS is not one big joke and they will not wait for you.
