I think that wems has come a long way in improvement with our new principal. Yhe teachjng staff has improved and the appearance has improved alot. I still believe we need a new school altogether. Thanks to our principal, things have improved and disicipline of the students have improved. The bus drivers need to report problems to her. Then an only then can she take care of these problems.

I totally agree with what the one parent said. The discipline is not enforced by the administration here. The teachers do what they can to instill order yet the kids are given the proverbial 'slap on the wrist' and sent right back to the classroom. Kids who want to learn cannot because of the children who aren't disciplined for their bad behavior. I've seen kids roving the halls and they are allowed bathroom access throughout the day...many of these kids get into trouble and there is also a safety risk here. These kids have no fear whatsoever of the administration and rightfully so. In fact, they chuckle at visits to the office.

As a parent of a child at WEMS, I feel they are going places in education. The kind, caring attitude of the teachers, the new programs implemented for helping all students accomplish their best, individualized discipline procedures, and the brain based curriculum is awesome. The homey family atomsphere as you enter the building breeds contentment. It is a non-threatening atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Our parents, our community, our business partners all work hand in hand to ensure that the child has introduction to all aspects of education. Hands on activities and 'being there' experiences are used to asssit the student in becoming a lifelong learner. I am proud to have my daughter at this school. I have seen many good changes in her academics and I attribute this to the school's teachers and leaders working together for the good of the child.

The principal hinders the school more than helps it. She enforces schedules and projects without following up to see it they work. She is not visible in the school. My child has yet to meet her and has been there for three years. Her form of discipline is to give the child a piece of candy, a pat on the head, and directions to not do it again. This eliminates the teachers authority. If the county's super spent more time in the trenches he would see the problems at WEMS and would take action to remedy.

One of the best schools. Teachers are helpful, understanding, and most of all care about each student. My child really takes pride and enjoys going to school everyday.
