Advisory Board Member. Great vocational program where kids have a chance to learn a trade. The teachers are outstanding and really care about the students future.

My daughter attended Belton Middle School and BHP High School and struggled academically from the 7th grade until we removed her from the public school system at the end of her 10th grade year. She is an ADD child that struggles with comprehension in Math and English. The school district had done nothing to help her to succeed in her academics. She had been tested twice through her school years in district 2 by the school psychologist in hopes of being placed in a program that could help her. Both times we were told that she scored too high on the tests to get extra help. It was never taken into account that she had failed the 7th grade (English), barely passed the same classes her second time in the 7th grade and had the same problems in the 8th, 9th, and 10th grades. My child is one of many students that struggle with some subjects in school and receive no help or encouragement from their school. BHP is more concerned with having a building full of District Office employees and 4 principals, instead of adding to their teaching staff. The principals do not enforce discipline in the school and do not support teacher discipline in the classroom. The administration is more concerned about the athletics in the school instead of the academic success of their students.BHP also has scored very low with their Exit Exams. Many students in the last year have chosen to quit school and go to Adult Education Centers to get their diplomas because their is no structure in their school. My husband and I have chosen to remove our daughter from BHP High School and we have placed her in a local private school. She is now getting the structure, encouragement, and knowledge that she could not receive in her public school. Her classrooms are not over populated and discipline is strictly enforced with love and encouragement. Children need structure and discipline in school in order to reach their full potential. With that said, my child is finally going to get the help that she has been needing and now has a chance to go to college. She knows that her principal and teachers have her best interests at heart. Her confidence is rising and she is learning more than she ever thought was possible.
