Stevens High School - 42

One of my daughters attended Central in 2008 and another Stevens in 2010. The differences between the two schools are substantial. The teachers at Central are questionable whereas the Stevens teachers are capable and hold high expectations. Also, Central is overcrowded having a thousand more students. Thirdly, the atmosphere of each school is different. Stevens seems calmer and offers an environment conducive to learning while Central struggles with far too many events outside of gaining knowledge. If you have a choice, send your children to Stevens.

Stevens high school is an amazing school, the teachers are there to help you acheive your goals. The music program is tremendous, for playing in the hall the orchestra plays music some high schools will only hear on recordings or at a professional concert. The Concert organ is one of the biggest and best things that could happen to the hallway orchestra it helps in their accomplishments of play fabulous music. Education is very wide spread, there are classes for many interests. The teachers are excellent they create a friendship with students so there is no barrier in getting help when needed. The AP US History class goes on a 3 day excursion every year, it is something students hear stories about and want to experience for themselves, it is an amazing and educational trip you will never forget.

Awesome school. The music program at Stevens is a-maz-ing! The dramas that they put on, orchestra, band, and marching band (not to mention the drum line) are phenomenal!

It's a decent school for the funding the state is able to provide. AP courses include Psychology, Physics, Calculus, Government, US History, Chemistry, and English. The school recently added on a new gymnasium, for a grand total of three. Emphasis for extra-curriculars is placed in sports; while programs like Debate and Orchestra are usually left out in the hall (quite literally for the orchestra!). PSEO opportunities are limited to the technical school nearby. On a national scale I would not rate the school above average; but for the region it certainly is.

I graduated from Stevens in '06. While you're there you think that stevens is horrible and that everywhere else in the country is better. Honestly, Steven's has a great extracurricular program and does a decent job at educating you.

An outstanding public high school with academics of the first rank. Class day is traditional (8 periods). Full AP course offerings, as well as state of the art Special Education make this a complete learning environment for all students. Graduates regularly accepted to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, etc. World class music department especially in orchestra/ strings study. One of the few high schools in the nation where the auditorium has a concert organ!. Girls sports are particularly fine. Gymnasium is like a junior college--magnificent! East coast boarding school quality in a small western town.
