Motivating the asperger's child to learn.

There are a couple of good books you might consider reading. One is "School Success for Kids with Asperger's Syndrome" by Stephan Silverman and Rich Weinfeld.
The other is "Asperger Syndrome and Difficult Moments Practical Solutions for Tantrums, rage, and Meltdowns" by Brenda Myles and Jack Southwick. This bookd talks about transition problems some AS kids have, problems with morning routines (which could be your son's issue), and ways to handle them. Even if your son doesn't have tantrums, this book may be of help.

What is his school day like? Being motivated to learn and motivated to go to school are not one and the same thing. There are kids who love to learn but hate to go to school.
Often when a child or teenager hates to go to school, there's something happening at school. Does your son have friends? Is he being bullied by other students or by an unfriendly teacher? Has he been successful in school? Kids who aren't successful in school resist going because every day just feels like more of the same failure to them.
What does he say when you ask why he doesn't want to go to school? That could be the key to helping him turn this situation around.78462
