My 14 yr old has the following scores: VCI 126; PRI 110; GAI 121; WMI 102 and PSI 70. I am very concerned about his processing speed and memory. Can anyone explain why his processing speedy may be slow low?

Hi Bread111 :) I can't really answer your question but I am sure others will come along soon. You can also try the millermom proboards site as there are a lot of knowledgeable people there who are awesome at interpreting scores and what implications they may have for the student. I wish you and your bright son the best of luck!

Do you have the individual subtest scores or just the composite scores? One of the questions I always ask when looking at the processing subtests is did he get a low score because of the number of questions answered or because he got the questions he answered wrong? There is a difference and you want to see if he was able to do the task even if slowly versus he was unable to do the task at all. Has your child been diagnosed with any attentional or executive functioning difficulties? Both of these can play a large part in both working memory and the processing speed tasks.

Hi. I read the post. How do you get the school to test for "processing speed"? I have the district do outside testing for O.T and. FBA. He has diagnosis to meet criteria for spc Ed He was in ,mainstream classroom, the teachers failed to see his way below average processing/memory. I always was told he is capable, just being defiant. Untrue. I see the same behavior everywhere. One task prompts with visual.
It would help greatly to know how to get this assessment to prove low process.
Thank you so much for your help!
