"How often should a 504 be done a student?"
"I see someone has already addressed this issue, however I don't see a response. I have been fighting with the public school that my daughter attends. She is now in 1st grade. She is a dwarf. I have been told to send bottled water to the school so that she can have something to drink as she is not tall enough to reach the fountain. They sent the step stool back home for use in the bathroom (as she cannot reach the toilet). According to the principal, the step stool was a safety hazard for the other children. I was told my daughter could just use her hands to get up and down from the toilet. HELP HELP HELP"
"my child is a 13 year old female who was labeled as ld last year one day after the death of my mom (her grandmother) up until that time she was basically an honor role student. also her father died one year prior to this in 2006. as of yesterday 5/5/2008 , my daughter is failing in both history and science. i cannot even get the school to respond to my phone calls nevermind address the situation with only one month left to school. any suggestiona?"
"Right now my son is on the 504 plan at school but it doesnt seem like 1 of his teachers will abide by it. he struggles with getting homework done and turned in. his home room teacher is ok with late work but the language teacher wont budge. i am trying hard as a parent to make sure his work gets turned in but i cant follow hin to class and make sure it gets there. What can i do?
"We have a dwarf child just started Kindergarden. Our only problem is the restroom. He cant reach so they have going into the office for help twice a day. They will not put a step stool in the restroom? Or shorter tolit? What can we ask for?"
"I agree with that statement. My child has an IEP and has a regular ed teacher and a special ed teacher only there 1/2 the day. They don't make sure that the books and assignments come home...seems silly to me. I guess the old adage in this district of they have to fail before we even consider helping has found it's way into the classrooms as well :("
"I think all of these suggestions are wonderful, the problem is getting my school officials to cooperate in doing them for my child!"
