What You'll Need
- How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World by Marion Priceman (Dragonfly Books, 1996)
- A world map
- Ingredients to make an apple pie
Here's How to Do It
Before reading the book, find your hometown on a world map. Show your child the continents, oceans and various countries. As you read the book, trace the route on the map that the baker takes as she travels around the world looking for ingredients for her pie. Discuss the different kinds of transportation she needed to cross oceans and travel across the country. At the end of the story, the author includes an apple pie recipe. Make the apple pie while encouraging your child to read and follow directions in the correct order. Eat and enjoy!
