Act out a script

How you can help at home: Read a script with your child to practice reading skills.

By Miriam Myers , GreatSchools Staff

This activity will help your child have fun, increase reading fluency and expression, and get the whole family involved.

What You'll Need

Here's How to Do It

With your child, choose a script to read. Decide which parts the other participants will read. If there are only two readers, read more than one part each. Read through the story a couple of times. Model for your child how to read with expression. Read Aaron Shepard's tips for doing reader's theater. Do a final reading of the script.
