Unfortunately, yes. Its been three consecutive years of layoff where I work and my 3 children go to school. What's even more shocking is they're now cutting the special needs department. These kids deserve the best to succeed and now they're being denied

Absolutely! I am a preservice teacher with a heart for Elementary school. I haven't even been called for an interview because of the abundant number of applicants for each vacancy. It's discouraging, but we can't give up hope yet!

There are definetly some good teachers loosing their jobs. To bad they didn't use this opprotunity to get rid of the not so good teachers or better yet administation.

Yes, my daughter's fourth grade teacher got lay off. She was a great teacher, she would give kids sweets homemade sometimes. She taught very well and she was also a cheerleader coach. In 2010-2011 she was lay off. We don't want to see teacher lay off

Obviously. But the belt tightening has a good effect;it acts as a filter. The strong; those who spend wisely (avoiding credit), live economically (conserve resources), cook at home more often, and treasure family time better will survive and prosper.

Yes. My daughter's elementary school has the lowest enrollment to date. Families are moving away in an effort to find work. Budgets are being slashed, teachers laid off and many schools can't even afford enough paper or books for each student.
