Families who make the sacrifices to live in the "good" districts should have first choice. If there is room for others, then they need to be merit-based admissions. We moved across country for a great school district and it was worth the sacrifice.

The Families should be allowed to attend any of the schools they wish to, because they are the ones who are the decision makers.

Parents unable to move should be on a lottery at schools they like if their child is an A/B student. Not every parent will drive their child to a better school or look into magnet schools so why not. Trust me, there wont be an exodus.

It would be awesome. Since the elementary school my kids are zoned to isn't up to par, I feel we should be allowed to be placed in a lottery for other schools. Especially since there is another elementary school within walking distance.

What a nice dream, but schools do not always have enough room. People who live near a public school should have first crack at it after that, if there is room, others can apply.

Neighborhood schools should have priority for kids who actually walk to school. If you live so far or are so afraid, that you'd rather drive your kid, then it's not much of a community school, is it?

We need more magnet programs for special programs, needs, and alternatives for kids falling behind at their neighborhood school.
