Graduated from pre-K last year, and our child has missed being in school this summer. Makes us fell great as parents:( We are all excited about kindergarden in 2011/2012.
It's the HOMETOWN SCHOOL. The teachers and staff really care.
As a Grandparent I am most happy to see my Grandson attend a school that cares about their students as well as the family. They activly get each family involved in the school and the education of each and every student.
My family and I relocated from Florida just 8mos. ago. and the only regret we have is not doing it sooner. My 5yr old just started kindergarden and my 10yr old just started 5th grade @Alcoa Middle. They are doing FANTASTIC and they actually enjoy going to school for once. Iam so happy to say that we definetely made the right decision to move here to Alcoa, not only because is a beatiful city with wonderful and friendly people, but with the best school system rated here in East TN. The teachers actually take pride in the education they give and they really care for the students. My husband and I can really take a sigh of relief because our children now have a chance to get a very good education with really caring professionals that have knowledge of what they're doing and take pride in it. They have passion.
Great School! So good, in fact, they had to stop taking tuitition students because they had too many students. Teachers are fantastic, PTO is active and involved. The Principal is very visible as well as available and involved in day to day activities of the school. The school encourages working diligently but not to the exclusion of having fun. Great programs for rewarding student excellence.
Iam a parent of a 5 year old. He started Alcoa preschool in 2003. When i first got him into school , he hardly said any words . He had trouble eating , and his abilities were slow. Thank to all the teachers my son has proved alot in the last 3 school years They help him so much with alot of special needs . I am so thankful for a school like this.
I am a former teacher and both of my children were adequately educated at AES. I am also a tutor for several children who have problems and attend this school. The staff are extremely supportive with ideas, help, and materials to encourage learning with these students I work with. I am proud to say that this school is exemplary, in my opinion.
My name is Terri, I live in Waveland, Ms. . Recently, as you all know, we were hit with the nations worst natural disaster in history. Because our town was so devistated,we had no idea when school would start again, concern about the contaminants in the air, and the fact that it was far too depressing here for a child to see on a day to day basis. So, I sent my child to live with his father in your beautiful City of Alcoa. This was by far the hardest thing I've ever had to do.He is attending Alcoa elementary now and seems to be doing very well and seems happy with the school and teachers. So, I would like to express how thankful I am to your staff for making my child feel so welcome and content. I too will be moving to Alcoa soon. Thankyou
When my child first started AES she had a reading problem and many attitude problems but thanks to their outstanding programs she is now up to date and doing much better. They have been extremely helpful and communicate constantly. They put her into the right classes to help her achieve grade level. The problems I have encountered have been minor as in any establishment. They have excellent school spirit and the teachers definetly know what they are doing. The only program they have that alot of parents disagree with is competition to sell and if they don't they are left out of whatever party function follows. In todays economy the school system needs to realize that not every child can participate and should not be excluded for not being able to participate. All in all AES is an excellent school.
I am not a parent of a student at this school. The teachers really cared about their students and were more than qualified to do their jobs. The music department had many great instruments including a keyboard set for the students to learn. Mrs. Russell took her students to festivals and other competitions. Overall, the students had a lot of resources to use to further their education including: several computer labs, one on one, and a very diverse library. The experience at this school was very rewarding for me.
