My child's school is Apison elementary. I could not be happier with a school. Everyone is very caring and attentive with the kids. My daughter has really grown there.
Apison elem and my grandaughyer has gone there for 2 years now. She was diagnosed with ADD by Dr. Paul Long , an educational psychologist expert and when we brought this to the school and asked for the appropriate actions ( which is a federal law) to help her become the most successful student possible , we were met with them dragging there heels . The principal's answer to helping her was that they would hold her back, without doing any of the testing., ( which is required by law) Her teacher said she had never had to deal with this before. We had a meeting with the principal and teacher and the principal would not let me talk or finish a sentence without interrupting me. Needless to say, that meeting wa very unproductive. We have gone to the school board without much success or caring there either. We may end up getting Chold Advocay involved . Makes a person wonder how many other children has had this treatment and uncaring attitude. She will not be going there next year.
Beautiful school, academically speaking the students seem to be behind other schools in Hamilton County, although they do score high on the "test".
I have had a child/children in Apison since '05 and have always had such wonderful and caring teachers. They have all gone above and beyond anything I have seen before. I had a child attend another local elementary school and I was very disappointed with it overall. I now have 3 children in Apison and I have nothing but positive things to say about this school.
The teachers at Apison are wonderful, caring and top-notch. Unfortunately, the present principal is not a good role model for the children and lacks leadership qualities. Wish the school system would recognize the importance of a caring principal and replace him.
I love Apison Elementary School because the teachers truly care about their students. Apison is not a Title 1 school but it is located in a rural area which means that Apison still has quite a few poor students. Since the teachers at Apison do not have access to Title 1 funds, I have personally witnessed them spend their own money on school supplies, clothing, and field trip money for those students that could not afford them. You know you've got a great school when the teachers care so much!
My daughter has a fragile medical conditon and everyone at Apison has been understanding and Mrs. Johns and Mrs. Thomason have gone out of their way to assist her with her schooling and she has had two wonderful years at Apison
We transferred our child from a Private School due to the long commute and have been just as happy here at Apison. My child has a wonderful teacher who maintains excellent communication with us on our childs progress. I can not say enough about the new principal Ron Hughes. He is very hands on and his door his always open to parents as well as students. My child has food allergies and I was very impressed with the school nurse who contacted me early in the school year to set up a meeting to discuss protocol in case my child had a reaction. My child goes to computer class , art class, P.E. , library, weekly and gets learns so much from each. My child has had a sudden interest in reading which I attribute to the his teacher who is very encouraging in this area. I am so pleased!
I have two children who have been through Apison. We have had a wonderful experience with both. The teaching staff is fantastic. The buiding is pretty new, very well kept, great programs, and a wonderful community. I am very surprised by the rating of this school. It should be much higher!
This is a newer school and rates much higher than on this website. Apison has been getting rave reviews in our community. It is a beautiful school, very nice inside and out. The teachers have been wonderful. I have three children that attend Apison. It is located in a nice, safe area. We are very happy here. This school is zoned for the new East Hamilton middle/high school that will be completed in Aug. 2009, making it a very desirable school to attend.
