Nicknamed ACT High School by some of the teachers. This school has gone from teaching the kids something, to focusing strictly on the achieving the highest score possible on the ACT test. I am amazed by how much the kids don't know when they walk out the doors of BHS. If you re not doing something with a ball at this high school, you don t exist to most of the teachers or the administration. The only reason I gave the school a decent score is because of their band program. The directors are the best in West Tennessee and will continue to take this band up, unless the school runs them off Looks good on paper, but your kid won t learn a thing.

As a graduate of this school, I can say this place is great. The teachers and administration do care. They want to help you succeed, and they are top class people. Thanks, BHS!

This is an very good school. The administrative staff is responsive to parental concerns. The teachers that I've met care a great deal about the students performance. Tipton county is the first county north of the gulf of mexico with a less than 25% dropout rate.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Tennessee used the Gateway/End-of-Course (EOC) exams to test high school students in language arts, math, science, and social studies upon completion of relevant courses. Students must pass the algebra I, English II, and biology I tests, called the Gateway exams, in order to graduate. The Gateway/EOC exams are standards-based tests that measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Tennessee. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.
