The man who runs this placed convinced me that my son needed to be here; that what I was doing as a parent wasn't enough and that this was the only answer. I listened, but over the following months my son became increasing hateful towards myself, God, and himself. He was an atheist to begin with, but this was the most emotionally violent I have ever seen him. His grades did not improve (and actually, he didn't receive credit for the courses he took here), and he became steadily more unstable. I agreed to take him out, after his father and I talked about it; it just wasn't helping. He attempted suicide, and we removed him a few months later. Our relationship is not the same. Be wary of the claims made. This program has the potential to help SOME children, but it does not and cannot address disorders such as clinical depression and a.d.h.d.

Our grandson has just completed 14 months of Advent Home education and training. He admits that he would be dead by now (from his excessive use of drugs and alcohol) had this intervention not been forced upon him by his family. He has finished his senior year 6 months before his high school class of 2014, and best of all he a totally different young man than when he arrived at this school. He has given his life to God and will begin work at a Christian college very soon. We have the highest regard for the program and the staff of this special school.

Wonderful work done at the Advent Home Learning Center, where young boys can reboot their lifes, get a fresh start using the Bible as their guide, learning to take responsibility for their actions, learning a trade and finishing school, gardening and learning a strong work ethic in a country settings, you cannot get this anywhere else. This school allows these boys to start life and school over, repair damaged relationships at home and build trust. Great food and lots of fun opportunities to participate in church.

Without Advent Home, this special school, my at-risk son would drop out and not be able to complete his high school. I commend these teachers and staff for their dedication and commitment.

A great country environment with such an awesome, holistic program for young men. The diet, fresh air, exercise and spiritual environment is such a benefit, it is ashamed that more schools don't incorporate these type of principles for young people.

This is the place for your son if he is acting out in school, home and you feel totally out of control. My son has ADHD. He was in so much trouble and failing in school. With the concern of dedicated staff willing to give up their lives and work with the boys, my son is getting his school work finished in a timely manner and correctly. The boys learn to work and to enjoy it. They can learn skills for life regardless what field of work they choose for their life. Thank you Advent Home.

Advent Home has the most dedicated Christian staff, so grateful that our son can be at this school. They not only teach acedemically but also give our boys a good work ethic to take with them when they mature into young adults. The boys work outside in the organic gardens, and have playtime every day with staff members present at all times. They have fun days for the boys, Family Forum every 3 months, where parents can interact and encourage each other in their boys growth.

My son's school is Advent Home Learning Center. Recently spent a parent student weekend conference and Labor day picnic. What a wonderful christian, caring, and loving atmosphere. The staff is a dedicated and genuinely interested in the affairs of the students and the parents and the whole family structure. Within 3 months , I can see the change in our son . May God continue to bless this school and all the students and families involved.

Advent Home Learning Center is unique in many ways. It is designed to help teen boys with learning differences and having behavior issues. Advent Home is a minimum distraction environment, located in a country setting, bordered on one side by a beautiful, peaceful river. Well equipped school for grades 6 - 12 is on the property. We also have a hands-on work education program and recreation time. A team of caring Resident Care staff, teachers, counselors and administrative staff all work together with the students to help them overcome difficulties with academics as well as personal relationships and interpersonal issues. We have four Family Forum weekends each year where parents and families come and participate in single family counseling sessions designed to talk about core issues within the family and learn how the student is doing overall. This is very popular with the parents - a hands-on time with their sons - time to talk and resolve old issues. This is a place for second chances, for families to bond together and become a real family again.

This is a school that is concerned with the students. The students that come to this school have behavior problems such as defiance, disobedience, difficulty focusing, not wanting to go to school. This school provides for the students to change from this negative behaviors. Their main emphasis is to teach them respect, obedience in other words to become mature fuctioning human beings. It gives the students the tools to grow spiritually, intellectually and physically.

Advent Home is truly a place where boys and young men with emotional problems and high risk behaviors can be rehabilitated, receive a good academic education and develop an abiding relationship with the Lord. The staff are all missionary workers who have chosen to delicate their time to work with these boys in need so it is not about monetary gain for them.It is about saving souls for Christ.

Before sending our son to Advent Home, we had no idea how to get him the help that he needed. He was too smart to fit into traditional support institutions for youth with disabilities, but too badly behaved to fit into traditional schools in the education system. At the Advent Home Junior Academy, the outstanding teachers and staff, worked with him to come up with a costumized educational and behavioral approach that has greatly assisted our son in his learning. In matter of fact, thanks to the Advent Home Junior Academy, our son has completed his GED and is projected to graduate from their "Maturation Therapy" program in December of 2013. The Advent Home Junior Academy has been an answer to prayer for our son and we are very grateful that it exist. Were it not for the Advent Home Junior Academy our son would probably be in jail right now with no hope for his future. Praise the Lord for the Advent Home Junior Academy!

Advent Home help students who are behind in school to thier grade level. They have a balanced program called Maturation Theraphy where they focus on the mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, and social sides of the student. It is a program that is incomparable to other learning centers.

My school is a residential treatment center for boys with ADHD, or other learning disabilities. We place them here in a minimun distraction envioment and with remedial and one on one attention bring them back up to grade level. They sometimes come with behavioral problems that we meet with non violent disciplinary protocall. They learn self control and teamwork in the classroom, on the playing field, in the home and also learn a good work ethic. When boys are dismissed by other schools for disrupting the class, misconduct or disrespect to their parents, we are the outsourse for these students to help them get back into mainstream schooling. We offer not only remedial schooling but online schooling to teens wanting to get their GED. We offer apprentis options in the school farming and greenhouses, as well as Cooking and food management, and other vocations to 18 year olds and up.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
