So many parents are afraid to voice their concerns about the school. Just yesterday a senior parent said she was suffering through and went on to give details that should have been shared with the principal. No one should have to suffer through, especially a parent. It is time to speak up to the right people, not other parents, so the school can hopefully improve.

this is a great school, I am planning on sending my son there in Fall 2014, He will be entering PK-3. I know the teachers and faculty, They really care for the students, And they prepared their students to strive and excel not only in secular but christian service.

My daughter graduated from another area private elementary school and moved her to Boyd for the sixth grade. She is so happy. She has done so well while being challenged. The school provides a safe nurturing environment where the children are encouraged to grow spiritually, emotionally and intellectually. We are thankful to be able to send our daughter to this school and would recommend it to everyone.

having gone to boyd since sixth grade and currently a freshmen, i must say it's an okay school, but you can get shunned for not being church of christ. the teacher sometimes expect too much, and the uniforms are ridiculous. also i think there is a problem with students not taking things seriously. but on the other hand, most of the teachers are very nice and the new techonolgy program is great. the football games are very fun. at the las football game we where playing chattanooga christan, we had a flash mob in the middle of the haltime show.

I graduated from Boyd - Buchanan (started in 7th grade) The education is subpar. Just as an example, look at the first review - the student is a junior in high school, but has misspelIed "acadimics" (it is spelled "academics"). I felt as though I was not in any shape or form prepared for college. Boyd-Buchanan is so concerned with what students are doing outside of class that they are unable to focus on preparing kids with a great education. By the way, for all the parents reading things like "it hasn't been a problem for us even though we are not Church of Christ" I was told by a group of students while in middle school that I was going to hell because I was baptist. I would never send my child to this school.

Boyd Buchanan is a wonderful place to send your children. They will get an awesome education and so much more. We moved a couple hours away and truly miss BBS. Both of our children started at BBS in Pre-K and we truly miss the education and family atmosphere. Because of our move, they have to attend public education and are doing very well academically and socially. BBS help instilled work ethic and moral values that will serve my children well, We hold a high standard for our children and BBS was right in line with that. So, if you are thinking about BBS, take a leap of faith, you will not regret it at all. Go Bucs!!!

Our son is in the 8th grade at Boyd-Buchanan, and has been there since Kindergarten. We love the school and have never regretted sending him there. We are not Church of Christ, and we have never had anyone treat us differently because of it. Boyd-Buchanan has the feel of a close knit family. The faculty and staff have always treated my son with such affection and love and have been great examples of Christ themselves. So many of the parents dedicate so much of their time to the students and to helping make the school a great place to be . Boyd-Buchanan focuses on academics, but has a wide variety of extra curricular activities for such a small school. We love watching our son prosper in an environment that not only provides him with an excellent education but also teaches him to be an active and productive, contributor to society.

My daughter has been at BBS since PK and has loved every minute of it. She has had excellent teachers every year. The school is small enough to have a family feel, but large enough to offer a lot of great programs (especially in the secondary). The parents council is awesome to work with and is truly dedicated to the school. BBS is a great value compared to a lot of the other private schools. You get a Christian education with high academic standards.

BBS is the best value in Chattanooga. Good academic program, good athletic program with more offerings than any other small private, great open, loving spiritual atmosphere. And their elementary school is the best kept secret in the state. I have 2 children in school, both since pre-K. What a blessing the school has been to our family.

I am an alumni of BBS and both of my children attend BBS. I have been associated with the school for over 30 years. I feel that my children are receiving a top notch education while learning about Christ. I am thankful everyday that they are not at a public school. Teachers at BBS are qualified and care about my children. If you are interested in the school then you need to visit and make up your own mind about the school.

I have been pleased with BBS. I do feel they need a new high school principal to help the school grow in many ways. I also feel to get the best teachers, BBS has to get away from only hiring teachers that are Church of Christ members. It is hard enough to hire and find great teachers ,without limiting the hiring candidates. I do feel the classes prepare the students for college, but also allow stddents that are not college bound to graduate. I do beleive the Church of Christ students have been foavored. I also feel the volunteers are all selected based mainly from the Churhc of Christ parents, others are excluded . The communcation has gotten much better with hte new presdient. The new media center is greatly needed. My daughter has gotten a great eduation, even though we have had some teachers that should not have been there.

The school overall is fine, but is in need of some fundamental changes. While others complain about whether or not one is Church of Christ, I don't believe it is a problem. There is a uniform policy which is overall positive. The middle school sports progaram participates in a conference which is entirely too small (playing very small schools like Temple and Silverdale) - -the school pays the price for easy Middle school victories in high school - - especially now being in 2A on the high school level. The facilities are becoming first rate, but the school still has a ways to go.

This is my 7th year with boyd buchanan, and I must say that I have had some real issues. Elementary was ok for the kids, but high school and the new dress code that was enforced caused me several issues with one of my children. I believe this school is directed more toward boys than girls. I watched as my child was blamed for things that were not her fault and ignored for things she tried to participate in. When I tried to bring this to the attention of a faculty they seemed as though they did not care. She has since left the school and doing great. My son is still attending for now. I feel if you are Church of Christ you are safe to go here.

This is the first year we have enrolled our children in Boyd Buchanan. We have on in K, 3rd and 6th. This school helps to broaden the minds of children in ways that public school doesn't by community interaction and parent involvement.

My son has been attending Boyd since Pk and now is in the 7th grade this fall, my daughter is in her 2nd year and just entered the 1st. I have watched this school grow and have its own trial and errors, in the end I would highly reccommend pk though 12th as the faculty is excellent adn always make times for the students as well as the parents if there is a concern, the athletic dept is wonderful, parent involovemtn is high. Also , I am not Church of Christ and I have never been in a situation where I was criticized, actually come to think of it nobody has ever asked me or my family except on the childrens original app. In my experience this school shares a christian belief no matter what denomination you are. I recommend Boyd above any other.

My children recently completed their 2nd year at BBS. Overall I have been very pleased, especially compared to the schools they came from. I do wished we had started them in Pre-K at BBS. I feel like everyone, regardless of their Christian background, are treated equal. If your are considering private christian schools for your child(ren), you should definitely take a tour & investigate this school. We live a good 30 miles south of Chattanooga & the drive is definitely worth it.

I'm a student in the 11th grade at Boyd-Buchanan. The acadimics are great as well as the sports! Boyd-Buchanan has a bible class for every student and gets each student ready to succeed. It is also a college prep school.

This is my daughter's second year at Boyd-Buchanan and she LOVES it! Her teachers have been wonderful! I can't imagine sending her to any other school. All schools have an impossible task today, but BBS does a great job trying to meet the needs of its students--academically and spiritually.

We just started our son in Kindergarten. We are not Church of Christ, and had no problem being accepted. We have enjoyed the school year so far.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
