My oldest child was accepted when starting third grade. I was very nervouse because it is a remarkably demanding grade. She has absolutely flourished. The teachers welcomed and supported her thoughout the year. She made wonderful friends and has been challenged to work hard for her academic goals. I could not be more pleased. With the exception of the facilities, this is one of the best schools in the Chattanooga area.
I have 2 children at CSLA entering 4th & 6th grades. My wife and I have been very pleased so far. Not to say there hasn't been issues along the way, but tell me a place there's not. CSLA provides an excellent education because of it's dedicated teachers/administrators and the families behind the students. The facilities however, are failing drastically and are the biggest negative by far. With that said, CSLA continues to rank as one of the top schools in the nation. Imagine if we had adequate facilities?!?
CSLA is a great school up until the 3rd grade, at which point children seem to get left behind with the fast pace. Great school not; however not suitable for every child or every family. If you enjoy a high demand lifestyle then you should be fine.
With a dynamic curriculum that engages every student, teachers that love their roles as educators and mentors, and parental support that empowers the classroom, CSLA is a great school.
My experience with CSLA had been wonderful so far. The kindergarten teachers are fantastic and my child has learned so much.
I've gone to CSLA for 8 years. I graduated two years ago and continued my schooling at CSAS. I like to visit as much as I can, because the teachers and staff are so welcoming. It feels like home for me. I do miss it. And I hope that every child that goes there gets as much out of the experience as I did.
We could not be happier with our choice to send our children to CSLA. The school does a great job of educating the entire child, without cutting any corners academically.
CSLA is one of the best schools in town. Chattanooga offers many public and private options and the decision can be quite difficult to make. As a parent of three CSLA children, I feel that they are each getting a very unique educational experience. They are receiving exposure to things at this school that are just not possible in others. The leadership of the faculty and staff is superior! Parent involvement is remarkable and the children are held to high expectations of learning by parents and teachers alike.
I have been going to csla for a period of seven years and I have two more to go. I would just like to say from a student's perspective, CLS A is one of the best schools to go to in the county. All of my teachers have been very nice and I have made alot of lifelong friends. :)
My children have been at CSLA for a period of six years, and I do not think that I could have made a better educational selection! This is truly a school where the education of children is a number one priority. Highly recommended!
We have one child at CSLA in 7th and one that has gone onto CSAS for high school. We have one that will be starting kindergarten in Fall 2007. We were lucky enough to be accepted when my oldest child was starting kindergarten and our children have attended no other schools, but we have looked to make sure our children were receiving the best education available (and there are many options in Chattanooga). We feel very strongly that they are in the best place for them! The entire philosphy of the school has made it one that we would not have wanted our children to miss as part of their educational experience. There are many good options in the public system in Chattanooga and many good teachers in this system and our children have been fortunate enough to have had many of them as teachers at CSLA.
I currently have one child attending CSLA, and another entering kindergarten soon. We were drawn to the school because of their hands-on curriculum, one that seems very different from other public schools. They place an emphasis on parental involvement, which is very important, as well as helpful for the children. There are a variety of extra-curricular activities offered, as well as plentiful field trips where children learn outside the classroom. I am also pleased that foreign language is started in kindergarten, which you don't find in other schools. We have been extremely pleased with CSLA.
I have two children at CSLA and wouldn't think of having them anywhere else, public or private. I was drawn to CSLA by the hands on or Padeia philosophy of learning and the offering of foreign language starting in Kindergarten. I have stayed because of those things plus the parent volunteer requirements that benefit and enhance the entire atmosphere of learning at CSLA. The staff and faculty are top notch and strive to see every student succeed.
