This is an amazing school with an outstanding team of teachers and staff. We pay a premium price to live in Collierville just so our children can attend the schools here. I would recommend any of the schools in Collierville to anyone who is concerned about their childrens education.
This school has been amazing! We were transplanted by hurricane Katrina and found the transition to be a smooth one! Unbelieveable attention and sincere service!
Collierville Elementary is an amazing school. Where some of the city schools are still working on addition and subtraction in the third grade, these kids are beginning to learn basic algebra. The principal is amazing. She worked hard a few years ago to update the curriculum, bring in new technology and win several grants. For example, the school has a grant funded sensory room for children who have difficulties with certain textures, hyperactivity, etc. There is an outdoor learning lab, geography lab, huge computer lab, etc. Smart screens are being installed in all the classrooms. Some people had trouble with the tough reality that undisciplined, underperforming teachers were forced to go. I say that's a sad statement about expectations in this state. Good teachers fight over positions in this school (as well as other Collierville schools). My children love going to school at CES.
Do yourself a favor and send your child to Bailey Station Elementary School or Southwind Elementary School. The principal lacks the much needed leadership skills and is simply there to collect a paycheck. She requires the teachers to give grades so that the school maintain high standings. In doing so, she is actually hurting the students because they are behind when they get to middle school. Very disappointed in this school...
CES is an amazing school. Every day teachers and parents come together to help all students learn in a positive environment. Kids come first!
They involve the whole family. Most teachers acknowledge every child by name (good morning, Ben). They acknowledge every parent by name and make you feel like they have been your friend for many years, not just since your child has been in school.
My husband and I moved to Collierville from Upstate New York. My daughter was just entering kindergarten, and not knowing the area, we were somewhat anxious about what kind of school we entered her into. We have been blown away by the quality of education she is recieving at Collierville Elementary. She is now in first grade, and both her teachers have been amazing (I haven't heard complaints about ANY teacher from other parents, either). The school encourages the parents to be as involved as possible, which adds to the quality of the children's education immensely.
Great schools take great teachers. CES has awesome teachers. They love the kids and go above and beyond. The administration is a great team. They enjoy being with each other and that energy go all through the school. I would recommend this school for anyoned
Exceptional school. The principle is amazing. She has a love for all of the children and strives to make each year the best that can be. The staff is wonderful and the teachers are fabulous!!
Love the school. Love the faculty. Love the education my children are getting. In my experience, the administration does what is best for the children. It may not always be what is most popular with parents and faculty/staff, but it is always what is best for the kids. That means so much to me.
Clearly this school is such an amazing place to be. When kids wake up wanting to go to school and are excited about learning, it makes life so much better for everyone. We have one of the most caring principals I have ever met. The teachers are wonderful and so is the office staff. They almost know every student by name....that says alot! Our test scores are through the roof and we have amazing staff and parents GO CES!
I have had children in this school for three years now. I have absolutely no complaints, at all. The principal and assistant principals (there's two assistants), and all the teachers are nothing but amazing. There are no 'bad' teachers at this school. I have four boys...two in school, grades first and second, and twins that will be there in two years. My little twins love going to that school as much as my older two. I volunteer my time there, and the twins always go with me. The teachers are loving, and gentle, and very kind hearted. The principal and assistant principals have all had to comfort one of my sons over the past three years, and they love the staff as much as I do. And the staff! And the teacher's assistants....marvelous, all of them!
Great school with lots of parent involvement, caring staff. Beautiful since renovations have been completed.
We came from Tara Oaks where we had a wonderful educational environment. CES has not let us down. My 1st grader was slower than most to learn to read in kindergarten but has made tremendous progress in all subjects this year. Our concerns are addressed in a timely manner & problems are met head-on. Mrs. Claney is direct, involved & very personable. She's done a great job placing my daughter with a wonderful teacher and moving us all into the new building. I would highly recommend this school. We are moving at the end of this school year and will miss CES.
I disagree on the availability of education for the special needs students at CES. I have found all the teachers very caring, supportive and attentive to my son's needs. He started his Kindergarten year in an expanded resource setting and has moved to a Kindergarten setting, without an aid. They have fully supported his difficult dietary restrictions. We came to CES with some reservations, but stay because of the dedication of the staff. I can't say enough about Mrs. Claney!
CES is awesome! The renovated school is beautiful--hard to believe it is the same building! We are fortunate to have the great administration and dedicated faculty at CES take such great care of our children! No one has missed a beat during the construction process--we had all A's on our school report card--including value added! Thank you to everyone at CES! You all worked hard and deserve all the credit!
'Our school has just undergone 2 years of renovations and we not only have wonderful teachers and staff but now we have a state of the art school. Under the leadership of our current principal and staff our 'value added' reading score has been brought up from an F to an A and all of this done during a difficult time of construction. Parent Involvement is welcomed and encouraged. I am very excited to be a part of a wonderful school and would encourage anyone moving to the area to consider CES.
Just wanted to add my comments. We moved here last year from out of state and couldn't have been more pleased. This year is even better. The new school is going to be awesome when it is finished. We cannot say enough about the great staff and administration. Mrs. Claney is a top notch leader especially in these times of very challenging safety issues with construction of the new school. If you are looking for a small class size, caring teachers, and a great principal, look no further!
I have been the School Resource Officer for this school for six years. The leadership and staff are excellent. Safety, academic and social progress are top priority. Students are challenged and encouraged at their own learning level and style. This school is going through remoldeling and new building but still is able to uphold their high level of academic status. Parental involvement is high here and encouraged.
I am a staff member as well as parent of CES. I have had a wonderful experinece at this school.I have an inside view of what it takes to manage a school of this size and magnitude. Hats off to our Principal. I would not wish to walk in her shoes. Maybe some of you 'Nay sayers' should. Then you would have something better to type and talk about. I look forward to an incredible 2005-06 school year as a parent and employee of CES!
