Not strong academically. Recommend Briarcrest if you want strong academics and a well rounded coed school. Recommend MUS or St. Mary's if you want a single sex school.

Their motto is "Experience More" and it could not be more true! So pleased we moved our children to SGIS!

We were looking for an academically challenging, co-educational, nurturing school for our children and we found that and much more at St. George's. The top-notch teachers value every student and their individual success. My children who have graduated from St. George's have not only been well prepared for college they have developed a love of learning. Lots of great opportunities for students to find and expand their own interests and I cannot say enough about the college guidance team. Warm environment. The academic piece is there and so much more!!!!

What a great school! I am amazed at how much my daughter has learned in just two years. The academics are rigorous, but the support and motivation provided by the teachers help your child excel. Also, my daughter has made many friends. She is so happy and proud to be a student at St. George's!

St. George's is an outstanding school. I am consistenly impressed with the individual attention and support my children receive from their teachers. You cannot ask for a stronger academic institution in such a warm welcoming environment.

We love St. George's. I have been at the school for the last eight years and we could not be happier. The teachers really get to know the kids and the facilities are amazing. Everyone should check out St. George's before they make a choice for their child.

St. George's is alright. It's pretty liberal and that's kind of annoying. We have to hear all sorts of talks about saving kids around the world and helping the environment. Also, there is hardly any structure to the academics. It's very poorly run in that aspect.

St. Georges Independent school is the best school I have ever went to in my life! I am a seventh grader here and let me tell you, it is not very strict at all, the athletic program s great, the teachers here are awsome and bullying is not a problem.

This will be my ninth year at St. George's, and I absolutely love it!! I can't imagine what my life would be like if I went anywhere else! St. George's is by far one of the best, if not the best, school in the city of Memphis! Amazing, caring teachers, nice kids, beautiful campus, challenging academics, strong athletics - it's really just an all-around great school!

My daughter attended St. Georges Middle School in Collierville from 8/2005 - 5/2007. We were very disappointed with several teachers and the actions of the administrators to cover up bullying, stealing and inapproriate behaviour by it's teachers.

We have found St. George's to be much like a small Liberal Arts College. Teachers are truly dedicated to learning, as opposed to 'testing well'. Students often find their daily curriculum changed just because the class may have inquisitive questions about a topic or subject (e.g., a child my ask an open question that leads to a classroom discussion on the topic and the planned daily activities are pushed back to ensure that the student and class have a complete understanding and opportunity to think and learn about the concept.) Teachers willingly stay and work with students after school, even on weekends, to ensure successful learning. We've never heard of teachers avoiding teaching, as we experienced in the local public schools (e.g., 'look it up if you have more questions or don't understand', or, 'we don't have time for that level of detail, we have to do practice test.')

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
