Unorganized. Blame focused. There is no accountability. It's always someone else's fault. Just fix the problems.

I have two children at this school because of the optional program. They offer advanced academics which has provided a challenging curriculum for the students. I think the strength is the strong, positive leadership of the principal, Mrs. Avanzi. Overall, it has been a positive experience. I have found the staff to be responsive and open to involving the parents. I regret that budget cuts in recent years have taken away Spanish classes and some support staff.

Just read the latest review stating this site is being monitored. This is probably true because a crazed control freak runs this school. Ask yourself this: How well do I really know the principal and teachers? I agree, the Kindergarten teachers are great at Cordova, however, the upper grades - not so great. Make a surprise visit, you'll see.

I wrote a negative review this morning, and now it is gone. I was right, someone is monitoring this site to offset and delete negative reviews of Cordova Elementary.

In regards to this most recent posting, I would like to say that while this parent must have had a bad experience with this teacher, I believe all the other accusations to be way off base. The school does not smell, the staff is, for the most part, very nice, and the principal is always present and available to talk to parents. She is also very involved with the children and I'd wager she can name every child in the school! I have had one child or another in CES since 2005, and have been very happy overall.

WE LOVE CORDOVA ELEMENTARY! My son was a student there for K-5 and now my daughter is in 2nd grade. The teachers are wonderful and really care for the students. They hold each student to a high standard of learning and accountability. Mrs. Avanzi is one of the best principals in Memphis City Schools and Shelby County. She works hard to make sure CES is a top school!

The teachers and administrators at CES demonstrate on a daily basis that they truly care for our children at CES. My older son has grown tremendously with their instruction and guidance. I look forward to my younger son attending CES in a few years!

In my book the best thing about CES is the leadership. CES has a principal that is not afraid to tell parents the truth and demand that they hold their own kids to a higher standard. I have been very impressed with the education and I am even more impressed with the social standards of this school. This school is an amazing asset for our community whose record speaks for itself as one of the best educational programs in the state. Other schools could learn from watching the way this school is operated.

The principal truly has the children's intrest at heart. This is my first year at CES and all the Kindergaden teachers are amazing and go above and beyond to make sure all the kids are up to par for first grade....Thanks !!

We are lucky enough to have moved into the Cordova Elem. school district. We have been very happy with the school thus far and look forward to next year. My only 'issue' is that there is little in the way of physical activity for the students. PE is not every day. NOt a huge problem, but I did have to take a star away.

My granddaugher has learned so much from the dedicated teachers that you have staffed. She has come a long way. We need good teachers in our school systems and that has been proven by Cordova Elementary School by the excellent education my sweet little granddaughter is getting.

My child is in the 4th grade and loves her teachers and all the activities, and I love their curriculum there. She is doing excellent in her reading. She's reading to a seventh grade level. She is also in the C.L.U.E program for above average children. I love Cordova and my daughter does not want to leave next school year.
