I watched the principal get hostile with a teenager when the child did nothing wrong. I don't want to hear any "..two sides to a story" nonsense. I was there!!! She would not even give the kid a chance to explain. After reporting her to the board, nothing was corrected. I was told they would get back with me after they addressed the issue. All I got was silence. I should not have to hold their hand to follow through. It's their job to correct this. So much for using proper channels to report bullying. :-/ I am glad I witnessed what I did. My kids will NOT be going to Cumberland Gap or any other Claiborne County School. I saw at least one reason why their academic rating is so low.

As a career military family our children have attended numerous schools, both private and public, around the country, and around the world for that matter, and we can say hands-down that Cumberland Gap High School is the best high school we have ever encountered.

I feel that my children are attending the safest ,most balanced (academics vs. sports) school in this region . Our teachers and other faculty seem to be morally and professionaly good for our children. There is a since of pride in our students for CGHS that can only come from the fact that they are glad CGHS is their school . Statistically through First Priority polling of students of numerous local schools ,CGHS is the best all around school in this region hands down .We are blessed .

i think CGHS is a great school! i came from a bad school and had to move there and start at that school and i quickly cleaned up my act and made new friends. its a great school with lots of teacher help and extra-curricular activites and they have a very low amount of violence and theres not much talk of drugs. i recommend it to anyone, its such a great school.

The students are behind, and teachers don't have the time to show them how to get one thing down, because they have to cover so many things for the upcoming tests. The homework help is useful, but many students can't learn all that they need in that short amount of time.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Tennessee used the Gateway/End-of-Course (EOC) exams to test high school students in language arts, math, science, and social studies upon completion of relevant courses. Students must pass the algebra I, English II, and biology I tests, called the Gateway exams, in order to graduate. The Gateway/EOC exams are standards-based tests that measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Tennessee. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.
