The school provides a safe and family oriented environment. The staff and administration truly care about kids. It may not have all of the bells and whistles of a 'city' school, but we all live here for the 'country' atmosphere and that is what you get at SCHS.
SCHS is one of the better schools in the district. The teachers really care about the students and provide every opportunity for the students to succeed. Yes, guidance is lacking but this is where the parents must step in to help their child.
I would have to say this school could be better like Houston County which is right down the road. HC has a great school with great athletics like cheerleading, basketball, baseball and softball if you want my advice go to Houston County High School!
I would say that in overall terms of schools in the US, this school leaves much to be desired, however it is certainly better than some other schools that I have experienced in the area. The clubs are properly funded, although I'd have to say that this is in large part a nod to the teachers that run them as opposed to the system. The school itself does not have many modern amenities that better schools have, although one could argue that this has to do with the area and lack of available funds. If you're looking for a small town to live in, this school is certainly better than, say...Houston County, which is right down the road.
This school does very little to prepare the students for college. Guidance is severly lacking and the caliber of instruction is not keeping up with the times. If you are considering moving to Stewart County and you have children that will be attending the county schools - you owe it to your children to obtain as much information as possible about Stewart County schools before making the decision to move.
