I was teaching at the Education Department of ETSU and several other colleges and universities Educational, Developmental, and Clinical Psychology. After we moved to this area just a few days when school started, it was not easy for my little son to adjust to all the changes. The principal Mr. Hartley made my son comfortable and welcome. He might not smile all the time but I observed him while interacting with other students with kindness and firm care. My son's teacher is a young lady, an ETSU honor graduate who is very professional loving with the children. Do not confuse the quality of education with the quality of the building. This is an old school with old values. Dr. William Nagy
I found the principal Mr. Hartley to be very uninformed, unfriendly and rude! I had talked to a Nurse and gave specific instructions as to what I wanted done with my child until I arrived (which was 8 mins later) and the opposite of what I asked was done, which could of caused additional medical concerns, I called Mr. Hartley after I talked to the Nurse who admittley ignored my request but thought it was no big deal, He had second hand info but thought he had enough of the story to talk over me and when I tried to get a word in he told me to be quiet! He used word play to justify what had happened, needless to say future problems will be fowarded to superintendent of schools.
I have had problems with this schools since day one. My son was injured by another student and the principle did not contact me and when I contacted him he said he did feel like it was an issue that needed to be addressed. My son was stabbed with a pen....that's a big deal. Mr. Hyder does not send grades home so I never really know what my sons grade is until it is too late. I don't see how that is even acceptable! I hope I cant get my son in T A Dugger next year!
Keengburg is very good school but there needs to be more parent involdment .The parents must not care what goes on with there children or they would take part of the pto or even try to come to meetings .

This is a wonderful school. The teachers here are great, especially Mrs. Blevins-Chausse, Mr. Hyder, Mr. Hyatt, and Mrs, Markland. They all care for their students and take the time to know each of them. I'm not a parent, but I went there and know I miss it very much. I miss you Guys. Brooke
My child has attended Keenburg for a year and a half now. We have had no problems with the school itself but find that the parents of the students don't seem to care as long as their children have a place to attend. Needs much more parent support in order for the school to become better. Most parents do not even show up for conferences. This is a school parents, not a daycare center. Show some support, the teachers and principal can only do so much. It would be nice to have more programs (music, sports, clubs) available for the students.
my child attends Keenburg and so many things go unreported to parents, when their children get hurt at school by other children. my child was kicked in the face and I was never called! violent acts go unreported to the authorities. when Dr. Scott is asked to move children from other children who are trouble makers and have problems, He refuses. when he is at school he never wonders out of his office and has no idea what is going on.
This school is highly not recommended. Dont put your child in there.
