Unicoi/Erwin schools should be avoided if possible. There is an unusual collection of bad teachers in these schools. There are no advanced classes and students are grouped by the political clout of mom and dad. These schools lack the usual extra curricular options of art and music, and strangely enough there is no soccer team. Get into Washington County schools for this area.

I attend this school it's ok and i dont think you people are paying its respect the teachers play the favorites game yes , but hey maybe because there's so many kids now that act up there are a bunch in my class that act up.... Please pause while i count...Out of 26 students 17 of them are always not having their homework, talking, backsassing, acting foolish they ruin everything for our class!im sick and tired of it we get nothing good ! some of us ,only a couple , have never had a strike, remember their homework,or stay quiet. I think nowadays kids are too spoiled if i ways to try that stuff at home i would not be a happy person at all.My teachers are cool! they know what music is they try to make stuff fun and interesting but the whole class gets punished because they cant keep there mouths shut!

The teachers at ucms will work with their students to get them ready for the nexr level of learning. Teachers call students' homes and send home reports every four weeks to let parents know about their child's over-all performance. I'm glad my son attends this school.

As a former student, I can say no with no doubts that with few exceptions I hated my time at Unicoi County Middle Schools. First, the building is despicable. It's of no concern to me if the building is old, but when the building is old, unsafe, and literally falling apart, it begins to inhibit learning. Second, the favouritsm game is played, as another reviewer mentioned. Athletes/favourites of the teachers and administration are frequently let off for punishable deeds. Third, there seemed to be a definite lack of encouraging to learn, with some exceptions (although I can honestly say some of my middle classes were harder than classes I have now at the high school, and these are 'challenge' classes). I feel that I was hurt in the math area because of this. Also, some of the classes are just plain boring for students. In closing, I do not recommend UCMS.

The people that are in charge of the school are not very well in-tune with the students' needs. They tend to play favoritism instead of taking care of each situation with the same degree of action. Trust me i attend this school.

My kids really love this school. They would rather be at school than at home. There grades are always A's or B's. The teachers have always seem to have and interest in helping my kids in anyway they can. My kids aren't afraid to go to a teacher and ask for help. They are really looking forward to Mr. English being there principal this year. They have noting but wonderful things to say about him.
