I have three children at Mt View school. I am suprised by some of the remarks I have read here today. I got two emails just this week from two of the Jr High teachers about my daughter. They care! I do wish the P.E. teachers were more compassionate. I am shocked by some of the things they get away with, but Mt View has WONDERFUL teachers outside of gym. I think if parents tried harder to teach respect and values at home instead of waiting for teachers to do it, school would be easier for children. It also saddens me when parents brag about confrontation with staff. What are you teaching your child? Mt View could be better, sure, but it starts at home. We have great teachers, great lunch ladies, great aids, and maybe Rhonda is just shy:) This is a good school.
I am over 50 years old. You have got the rudest school secretary I have ever met. Gonna call me and act like a sick child is a burden to her. No compassion at all. Try to ask her questions and she is gonna get rude and just hang up. Hope she treats the children she comes into contact with with a little more compassion. And she has been rude to the child's mother so this is not just me thinking so. If she doesnt like her job or kids tell her to find another job!
Great school. Good discipline. Great staff. The only complaint I have is the PTA always schedules times to meet during "normal" business hours, which is fine if you don't have to work, but for those of us that do, we cannot attend.
this school should not be allowed to call themselves educators because its all about the money not the child shame on you
I am a parent of a 12 yr old that is struggling in school and no matter how I try cannot get any help from anyone at this school. They dont seem to care.
Wonderful school! Academic standards are high, teachers are nurturing and caring, and the leadership is by example. The principal and the assistant principal of Mt. View are present almost every minute the doors of the school are open, and both have a passion for their life's work. They take great pride in the students, the teachers and staff, and even the facility itself. The faculty is second to none - very dedicated, involved with the children, and determined to help all students. My son, a fifth grader, has always attended Mt. View School, and although two other systems and several other schools are in close proximity, I would not consider sending him elsewhere.
This is a good dchool! both of my kids go here one is in the 2 nd and the other is in kindergarten. We have some trouble but most oif the time this is a great school
My Child is in Kindergarten this year, and my other son will be starting in August. As i parent wo just moved to the area and had my son start school, I have to say that his teacher Mrs. Currence has made this school year wonderful. I do worry that there is not a school nurse, and the school seems to do alot of things that are costly. However, the staff and teachers that I have met are very good with the students. my son loves school and his brother hopes to have Mrs. currence next year.
I taught at Mt. View for 29 years. I miss my colleagues. I can attest for their genuine concern for each and every student. The concern is not primarily what the children's test scores are, even though that is important to them. The primary concern is for the children's interests, abilities, achievements in all areas of their lives, etc.... My children also attended Mt. View. They went on to be very successful at Central and at the University of Tennessee. They are now married and successful in their adult lives. They received a great foundation at Mt. View.
My child has attended this school for 6 years now and the teachers have been great. They have been very professional and genuinely caring for the students. The areas that I feel need improvement are probably more state controlled than individually. My major concern is that they only have a nurse for half a day once a week. Instead of creating administrative jobs I feel our children need more in the schools.
My child was a student at this school for four years during this time I observed alot of things that should not be happening. Their is too much politics in this school. I do have to say their are some good teachers, but the principle and secrataries at this school only care about there sports, and what makes them look the best.
Very good school, though I am not fond of the vice principal. Wonderful teachers who communicate very well with the parents.
I think we need to get better principals in this school ones who care about what is being done to our children, and not just turn the cheek.
I'm the mother of a 1st grader at this school and she absolutely loves it. They have impressed me from day 1. I wouldn't dream of sending my child anywhere else. I rated everything as to what my child and I have experienced in the 2 yrs she's been there. We love it.
