We moved to Germantown a year ago because of the schools. We are very impressed with the high quality of education and nurturing the children are receiving. The teachers ensure each individual child is learning the required material and extra time has been spent with my child where needed. The Principal and Vice Principals are very professional and act promptly on matters of concern. I am amazed at the amount of parent involvement and volunteer. The faculty, students and parents come together in fundraisers to raise funds for extra classroom supplies and equipment. The front office staff have always been attentive, prompt and courteous at each visit. The school is secure and all visitors are buzzed in through the front door. The school is very organized and will adjust policy and procedures promptly to ensure the safety and well being of all children.

Both of my children attend GES, and we love it. Our kids are getting a fabulous education, and the faculty and administration are top-notch. The school is very well run, and any questions or concerns are dealt with immediately and with care. When considering GES vs. private schools in the area we chose GES, and are so pleased that we did!

I am so pleased that my son attends GES. They're a well organized group from top to bottom. And I love the diversity among the students.

My kindergarten son attends this school and I am very pleased that he has both PE and outdoor playtime (weather permitting) every day. Weekly, he also attends library time, music, art, and computer lab, things I was afraid he would not encounter in a public school. There is a nice diversity at the school. Many nationalities and colors and backgrounds. Many children walk to the school and many children stay after to play at the playground. It is a good place to get to know other parents and a real testimony for the neighborhood school.

Germantown is a close knit school with small teacher/child ratios which is a good thing. However, too much focus on behavior and not academics. Don't like the idea of 'every thing the child does' requires a note to parent or a marking of his conduct card/sheet. The atmosphere is great but the constant monitoring of behavior causes more stress on the student. Wish the concern/notices regarding academics were just a plentiful as the notices for conduct.

I have 4 boys in GES. They are very happy, love the school, and love learning. Mrs. Bluestein works so hard and does such an awesome job! The teachers are great and really work with the parents. We absolutely love our school.

Our son is in kindergarten and he loves going to school. As a parent I appreciate the attention the principal and teachers give to providing a safe and encouraging environment for everyone. Whenever my wife or I visit the school you can tell everyone cares about giving the children an organized and welcoming place to learn. I thought since it was my son's first year if full time school he'd be reluctant but he hasn't shown anything but joy in going to school. He is even riding the bus and everything is done with confidence. I couldn't be more pleased with the job his teacher and the administration are doing. Thank you!

Mrs. Bluestein has been at this school for 27 years. She is a professional. She is direct and she cares very much for each individual kid. The office staff is like no other. They are kind, friendly and will help you at all times. The teachers are excellent and are open to speaking with you (this is my personal experience).GES has an awesome PTA.The school is clean. Parental involvement is 100%.If you are lazy and expect the teachers to be substitute parents, don't send your kid to this school. However, if you are a responsible parent and you take time to assist your kids with academics and social skills, then this is the place for you. If you want a 'touchy feely' principal who is not serious about education, don't send your kid here. The principle runs GES like a well oiled machine and I appreciate it. BMattix

We have been pleased with the academic program our child received until this current year. After several parent teacher conferences, we asked the principal and counselor for help. We had very little support and utlimately had to turn to another school. It was not an easy decision. The teachers are dedicated, but micromanaged. The loss is creativity in the classroom and a much more stressful climate.

GES can be compared to any private school in Shelby County. It is excellent. The teachers and administration care for each child individually. I have had 3 gifted students at the school over the past 7 years and they have soared and recieved all that they needed. Any problems are taken care of by the administration with an open ear. GES has a family atmosphere. Family fun nights provide opportunities for parents to meet and really know their child's school friends. I highly recommend Germantown Elementary School!

Since Ms. Bluestein became principal, school quality has plummeted. Many of the better teachers transferred immediately to other schools.Open book tests (and allowing students to grade their own work) help support high grades. Standardized test scores are high because teachers teach the test material: don't look for any deeper knowledge. Some teachers are so far behind that unless they are prodded,it takes a whole semester to 'cover' just one or two chapters in a book. They LOVE projects (no work, easy grading) Fourth grade was terrible. Fifth grade was worse. Parental involvement is welcome as long as it is positive (no criticism permitted). Parents have been DIRECTED not to discuss school problems with other parents. Don't even think of going here.

This is a friendly, academically sound school where the teachers, admin., parents and kids all work together. I have had several experiences where the prinicipal has gone out of her way to ensure a positive academic experience for my son. I am pleased that my children are attending such a great school!

This is a wonderful school. The teachers, principal and staff work with each student, even those who have learning difficulties, to bring them up to their highest potential. They truly care about every child. I have considered moving to a new house but have not so that my children can remain in this school. Family involvement and volunteer and PTA support are outstanding. My children are happy to go to school each day.
