Teacher effectiveness: Neutral

This really depends on the teacher. There are some teachers that I absolutely love! I love that Mr. Hale fosters a love for learning literature in his class. Then, there are some that make me wonder.

Amount of homework: no rating

The amount of homework was not an issue. However, making students do it the teachers way in MATH even though the student could show how they arrived at the correct answer is against all that I believe in as an educator. HOW does this teach a child to be a critical thinker????? VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!! Your way may not be the best and only way for that child to understand. If it is a strategy let them show you that strategy AND their way. Try to have an open mind!

Students are treated like prisoners. There is a God complex among some administrators, teachers, and students. Depending on the internal ranking system, little to no discipline can occur or over-disciplining can occur. Students then take on asurvivalist mentality and either fight or retreat.

Most teachers do not care what happens in their classroom. Over the past four years, I have had one child locked in a closet by other students, and another child had her hair pulled at the top of her head, got cursed out, and told that she was going to be killed by a student in the classroom with a teacher present. The administration's solution was for my daughter not to look at this student. The guidance does an awful job. If you need school records, do not expect them any time soon. We requested them on July 2 and are still waiting. It's only almost October! There seems to be no website for this school so you have to call them. Good luck trying to actually talk to someone who knows what they are doing!

Has teachers who shouldn't be teaching...non-caring, aloof, and petty. No help beyond the bell. Thank goodness Poe is gone, but some of the same attitudes still prevail.

I have to agree. The teachers could do a better job of returning calls & getting the children extra help. There are a few great ones, but the majorty of the staff seem to have lost their joy of teaching and just there to collect a check. Our teachers need to make more money and be given breaks so they do not get burned out. I believe that they should make learning fun again.
