Like any school it has good and the bad qualities. It is smaller than many schools in Knox County but not as much of a community as one would expect. Teacher quality is just OK, not overly impressive. Again, like anywhere, there are some really good teachers and some not so good teachers, it just depends on who you get.
This school is a fantastic addition to the community! The courses are challenging and the grades are earned; not given. The students here perform much better than average on college entrance exams and AP tests. We are fortunate to have Knoxville L and N STEM Academy and its amazing teachers!
This school fosters a safe and fun learning environment. It is largely absent of bullying and racial stereotypes that one would normally expect to see at a high school. The L&N does a great job of preparing students to lead the next generation of technological advancement and global interaction.
It's great, the atmosphere is perfect for learning and the school just keeps getting better and better each year. Love the area and the ways the L & N uses it to their advantage. The only disadvantage to the L&N is the terrible food, it's bland and cold. Racism is a factor because this school attracts both "rich white kids" and colored folk. The students continue to step up creating clubs such as Flag Football and Water Polo. I'd definitely recommend the L & N
This school really is incredible. Bullying is practically non-existent, the teachers are amazing, and I feel really safe and comfortable going here. I feel the way the school manages the student devices is a bit questionable at times, including "random searches" with no explanation why or what your device is being searched for...
This is a great school for techies! L&N has a wonderful staff and enthusiastic faculty. Very cool historic buildings house the school which is located at World's Fair Park. Neat combination of the old and new. All students are issued an iPad. Lots of individual sports offered such as cross country, swimming, tennis, and golf. Ulitmate freesbie is the cool "team sport". Transportation is provided from zoned high school. Schedule is alternating block - 4 classes one day and 4 others the next so you have year long classes. Latin is required and STEM is primary focus, but school has solid arts and music programs.
