Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I was not impressed with my son's teacher. But there are too many students and they could not switch him. We had a major problem this year and the teacher blew me off.

FPS is a remarkable school! The principals, teachers and staff make the school environment a fun place to be. My son is in 2nd grade with Mrs. Webster. She is highly creative, challenges all students, encourages parent and grandparent volunteers to help in the classroom and is very loving with the children. She has high expectations for all children and creates a positive, comfortable learning environment. Her assignments are meaningful to the students and she connects what they learn to their lives. She was Tennessee Teacher of the Year in 2002, and it is obvious why she earned this award. She has been a blessing to my son this year.

I am not very happy with the staff answering the phone anytime I may call about my child. They are not helpful, and rush the conversation. I am a very laid back individual and they care more about the teachers than the students at this school! "Teachers Union" I am looking to transfer my child!

My don is entering second grade at FPS, and I can't say enough great things! The speech department is amazing, he was corrected in 2 months, the guidance counselor is so passionate about her job, and all of the teachers truly care and want to be there! There is plenty of help and parent volunteers, so, although the school is a bit crowded, our son has never felt left out. This experience has been so great, I hope it continues for our other child.

This is one of the best if not the best primary school in east Tennessee. I have a 5 year old son who started Kindergarten this year. His teach Mrs. Proffitt is sought-after and the few times I've met her and her aid, Ms Wagle, I've been very impressed with their outgoing nature and eager to dive right into getting to know the kids. My son's first day was today and he was all smiles from the time I dropped him off until the time my wife picked him up. Add a first-rate staff, highly trained and experienced new principal and assistant principal and you have the best primary school you could ever hope to send your children to. I have two younger sons who have yet to start school and I can't wait for them to start Kindergarten at FPS. We can't hide our dolphin pride!

Wonderful School. My son is currently going to this school as a Kindergartener. We have just moved to the area from another part of Tennessee. He was not getting challenged enough at his other school and was getting bored. So I checked the school scores before enrolling him in a public school in Knoxville. By far Farragut schools scored better than most schools in the same area of West Knoxville. He is doing great and loves his teacher(Mrs. Proffitt) she is a great teacher and pays great attention to her kids and works with them in all areas. He is in Kindergarten and doing great in addition and fractions. Reading is awesome too. We are looking forward to his first grade year at this school.

My child will be in Second Grade this fall. We hope she gets a really good teacher. Her Kindergarden Teacher was wonderful, 1st Grade was a big disappointment. Homework almost every night was a bit overwhelming.

I have/have had children in this school. One has a moderate learning disability and the others are average/above average students. All of my children received an excellent education. Even though the school is packed with students they are not stingy with their services (speech, resource, etc.). The resource and speech teachers are outstanding. Mrs. Wells knows exactly what's going on in the heads of the kids with learning disabilities. She teaches each student according to their learning style and the results are fantastic. Miss Mimi ensures that children feel safe and teaches life lessons with puppets - the kids love it. Mrs. Craze, the principal, works with parents to ensure the success of their children. My negative experiences have involved the library staff. At times I am amazed at how nasty they can be to both the children and the volunteers. Perhaps it's time for the current staff to retire.

I have been teaching at F.P.S. for seven years and I plan to stay! It is truly a blessing to work with such caring, professional staff members. I would definitely send my own sons to F.P.S!

We moved to this area last summer and my son is a special needs child. Everyone at FPS has gone out of their way for him. I was really nervous with my son starting a new school, with his autism, but everyone listened to my concerns and fears. He is having an excellent 1st grade year.

So fare we have been pleased with this school. We like the ability of the teachers to compensate the shortcomings of the unambitious curriculum offered by the Knox County District.

We've had two kids through Farragut Primary School so far and one more to go. We really didn't like the prior principal who seemed more interested in her convenience and parents were a bother. However, the current principal is incredible. She really cares and seems to set the right tone for the school. Our teacher experience has been okay - none bad, one great, rest good. Really overcrowded! The staff does their best but it is bursting at the seams. They really have a focus on the child at FPS and it shows.

FPS does the best that they can do with the resources that they have. Federal guidelines have changed regarding students with special needs. That, coupled with budget cuts, makes it difficult to give more 1:1 time with special needs students, but the staff tries their best to meet these students needs in most areas.

This school is over crowded and under staffed. If you have a child with special needs this is not the school you want to send your child to.

My child began attending school at FPS in Kindergarten. I was highly please with her teacher Mrs. Whitehead! Last year I was disappointed with a new teacher, but not necessarily displeased. This year, in second grade, I have been highly displeased with the teacher. I have held my tongue to an extent and tried to work with the teacher, fearing if I said to much my child would reap the repercussions for the remainder of the year. My advice is to do some digging and find out about your child's assigned teacher.

Farragut has a tremendous amount of parent support and involvement. The parents are a vital asset to the school. The community is also highly involved and supportive through the adopt-a-school program. Teachers are well-educated, work together, and highly professional.

The 2004-05 school year has been a great year for the students and staff at Farragut Primary School. The school has a new principal and a new asst. principal, both whom are very supportive of the staff and students. They school recently received their SACS accredidation, which they should all be applauded for. Involved PTA, lots of community support, hard working staff, and great students! Test scores are always in the top of the county!

I agree with the person who wrote that the office staff is not courteous. When I went to enroll my daughter I stood there for about ten minutes while they totally ignored me because they were too busy chatting with each other. On another occasion when I had to go in I again stood there while the lady stared at her computer and pretended to know I was not there. I also find it very hard to talk to the teachers unless you happen to catch them on their way out with the kids. It's hard to know how your child is doing when there is no way to have a conversation with the teacher.

Wonderful PTA parent participation and support. Great library program. Friendly, helpful teachers. Office staff is not always courteous. Principal is not visible in the building; rarely accessible to parents unless you force the issue. School funds are spent without input from staff! She spends alot of time out of the building at Chamber of Commerce functions on school time! The school is great but the leadership is not!

2 of my children have attended FPS K-2 and never had the same teachers. We have found each teacher to be outstanding, dedicated and they go the extra mile in everything they do. However, principal leadership lacks genuine concern for the well being and safety of children and places focus on political issues. The principal hears our children, but chooses not to listen or respond. Our 'diversity problem' lies within principal leadership only. We base our overall quality of FPS on the teachers, what does the principal do anyway, and we give them a 5!

I'm in Farragut Primary weekly because my preschooler has speech therapy there. I can't comment on the K-2 classes, but I do agree there seems to be plenty of diversity. I see lots of Chinese, Hispanic, and Indian kids in the halls. Does the respondent who claims the school has no diversity think only black kids could provide diversity?

We are very pleased with the Primary School. I went to Farragut Schools and loved every year I was there. My kids have been going to the Primary and Intermediate schools for two years and I have been so impressed with the level of education offered at these schools. Keep up the great work!

This is the envy of all primary schools in the Knox County system. Apparently, the Korean, Saudi, Indian, Mexican, Chinese, & Syrian students don't count as diversity according to the prior respondent? I profoundly disagree, and counter that this school has true cultural diversity, without the dangerous black gang activity the respondent seems to require.

This school has no diversity and it is not recommended for any minority groups.
