Karns Middle School

I am grateful to the KMS teachers and principal for excellent coomunication and guidance. Our child is doing very good in this school. I admire the effort of special education teachers. After relocation, last year our son first got in touch with his sp. ed. teacher (Mr. Champion), and we could see the change. All the teachers (science, reading, math, language arts, social studies, related arts, etc.) are very sincere and dedicated to the kids. Thank you all for your support.

As a grandparent at this school who volunteers and sees the programs and the students on a regular basis, I can truly say that the climate is healthy and that with the new principal the entire staff is more aware of their surroundings and safety is a plus factor.

The teachers are awesome and really care about the kids.

The kids are GREAT and the teachers are sincerly dedicated to teaching.

My child went 2 years to Karns Middle and I can't say I was impressed with the teaching staff in general. There were some teachers that seemed to really care about the students and their academics but too many seemed to just be there for a job or buying time to retirement. My son liked the school but I don't believe he was in the best of schools, but maybe it is OK for the standards set in this state/county. I definitely think those standards could be higher. Over all I think it is an OK school but hope it will continue to improve.

I have attended this school for two years now, meaning I will be going into the eighth grade, and both years have been absolutely amazing for me. Most students say they hate school and what-not, not me. I'm one of the very few that love going to school, not just for seeing my friends but for the learning, life skills, extracurricular activities, etc. Yes, I had my moments where I wasn't all too pleased with the school, but the rest of the time, I love being there. My opinion, the Karns schools are the best schools I've attended throughout my childhood and teen years.

Karns Middle School is the best school ever because all of the teachers don t just do their jobs but exceed them. They are always trying to do as much as possible to help you, and the lessons they teach are breathtaking it s not what they teach but how they teach it, they make it so fun. It s not just the teachers that are magnificent but the whole Karns Middle School staff is great. The students at school are always ready to lend a hand and they are caring too. I guess you could say they follow every rule of character counts. The students act like they ve known you forever even if they don t even know your name. Overall I would declare that this is an A+ school , you are extremely fortunate if you get to go to this school, Karns is the best school ever!

This school is like no other I have ever seen! It is amazing! The teachers are so helpful and truly care about the kids. The students are great kids and the behavior problems are very minimal. I would highly reccomend this school to any family who is looking for a great school.

KMS is outstanding. I have one daughter who has moved on to the high school and one daughter who will be in 8th grade. I wouldn't trade this school for any other in the county, including private. The teachers are helpful and I've never had a problem with any of the staff. Being military we have had our children in many schools state side as well as overseas, and none compare to KMS. My children are happy and adjusted. They also have received an outstanding education. They will indeed look back at their time at KMS with great memories of not only their friends, but their teachers..the food...the dances...and the basketball games. Is everything 100% at KMS? Probably not! I'm not sure there is perfection at any school in any county...but they do a wonderful job at KMS!

We moved here from FL in the middle of my daughters' 6th grade year. She had a really hard time adjusting. The curriculum was harder than her 'advanced' classes at her old school and she fell behind. Her teachers were great with keeping me informed, giving advise and helping to get her back on track. She will be going into the 8th grade next year. She has grown so much. We are completely happy with Karns Middle. The next best thing to the teachers are the kids. In FL there were fights and general meanness among the kids. Here she is able to be a kid. The friends she has made are wonderful. They are just as sweet, naive and clueless as she is and that's a good thing!

I have a 7th and 8th grader in KMS and am extremely happy with this school. My son attended another middle school here in Knoxville before enrolling in KMS. The teachers, staff and principals at KMS are outstanding. The teachers, staff and principals are very aware of what is happening in their school and take appropriate measures when it comes to discipline. I feel very safe and confident sending my kids to this school.

My son goes here and he loves it! They have a wonderful cafe ,and conssesion stand. My son has been in 7 different schools ,in 5 different states this is the best one!

This school is great unless you have a special needs child. The staff is wonderful until they are asked to do something that you feel your child needs (such as extra help with learning to add during an IEP). If it requires them lifting a finger out of the ordinary, they balk and fight not to do it. If you have a 'normal' child, I highly recommend this school. If you have a 'special needs' child -- be prepared for a constant fight on behlf of your child to get his/her needs met and just to keep him/her in the school!

My child is about to go into this school and from what I've heard the cafeteria serves wonderful food, they can choose their own lockers, there are many, many different activities they can choose from, the parents are very involved, it's a controled enviorment for all grades, my daughter is going to do 7th grade math in 6th grade because she did 6th last year and they want the students to be challenged to their abilities, their extracurricular activies help build each child's talents and gaols for the future, the principal is friends and leads the kids without over-doing it like my kids other school's did, and the teacher don't push too hard and they encourage kids as they go through middle school! That's the best I've ever seen!

I think this is a great school to send your kids to. It has a lot of academic activities and it has a very nice faculty. The principals are kind and the school is very orderly. They also have excellent parental involvement. I would suggest this school for anyone who is looking for one. They also have an outstanding girl's basketball team and cross country team.

Karns middle school is a excellent school! Walking into the cafe is like walking into a fast food place. kms has the best cafe furniture and the best gym. The gym is always clean. It's in a really good neiborhood too.
