Sterchi Elementary School

I am a parent and past student of Sterchi. I have had 3 children attend Sterchi and the last one will start next year. I am so thankful my children are zoned for this school. Sterchi is one of the top 5 elementary schools in Knox County. I love that school is small and parent friendly. The PTA is very involved with raising money to provide the students with the tools they need to excel. This school is not title one so all the extras have to be provided by PTA. I wish all schools had teachers like Sterchi, some even provide free tutoring on there own time.

Misrepresentation just a bit. The language and pictures on the web site indicate a diverse population of children. This school is 92% white and 3% black. Look at the school's rating by category - just one category - white. Wow!

Sterchi is in my opinion the best elementary school in this area and their test scores prove it. I have 2 kids in Sterchi. The parent involvement is wonderful. The office staff and teachers go out of their way to help your child achieve. You will not be disappointed with Sterchi. Parent/teacher/principal communication is top notch.

I love this school. My 2 boys have done so well. We have alot of extra activities and field trips which makes learning exciting. The staff is dedicated to the children.

My grandaughter started there this year. She has a wonderful and caring teacher and is doing great. It is not a big school but the quality of teachers and workers is wonderful.

Three generations of my family have gone here. It's the best school in town.

When our oldest child reached school age we transferred him to Sterchi. Transfers were hard to come by in Knox County, so after kindergarden we bought a house and moved into the Sterchi zone to ensure that we'd be a Sterchi family. Now, 12 years and three kids later we have only one more year at the school before moving to middle school and we'll be sad to be gone. We have had an excellent experience at the school and it's only gotten better since a new principal arrived a few years ago. The teachers have been consistently good - several even excellent, the office staff is always friendly to us, the few discipline problems that exist are generally handled quickly and fairly and the parents are welcome and involved in the school. If there's a better school we don't know where it might be.

We were thrilled to buy a house and move near Sterchi. Previously, our daughter had attended Copper Ridge. We felt that school, in general, was better than average, but Sterchi had such high ratings! Sorry to say we have found the office staff to be rude and argumentative, the principal ineffective and the teacher, although very competent, to play favorites and almost encourage cliques. My daughter is heartsick. We are putting her into private school as soon as possible.

I thought Sterchi was a perfect school until the last couple of years. I have personally been involved with 2 teachers that bully their students and one teacher that was very discrimnatory. I wish all kids could be on a level playing field

I am fortunate enough to be a teacher at this school and to have 2 children go through as well. The administration is all about what is best for the students and is supportive of staff and parent needs. What a wonderful find in Knoxville!!

We love this school!! My son transferred in and it was like a breath of fresh air! I would highly recommend this school! Can't wait for next year, my son loves it! And ...we love Mrs. Andriopoulos in first grade! She has been absolutely awesome and has brought our son a long way in such a short period of time!!!! :)

I have 2 kids here; one for all 6 years. It is a great school/ It had changed throughout the years and has only gotten better. It is a great size; not too large. Parent involvement is great. One thing I would change is more hands on computer. It is a way of the future and we do not have a computer lab. I also hate 'TAG' everyone is talented & gifted. If Knox county wants this program; please change the name!!!!! This school is a 'diamond in the rough.'

My son has attended Sterchi Elementary since 2005. He is a student in the CDCA (special needs) class. I have found all the teachers and staff to be very supportive and attentive to the needs of all the students. I am also impressed with the children who attend Sterchi as most of them are accepting of others with special needs. This is rare to find and I credit the parents and school by working hard to teach their children to accept differences. Sterchi Elementary has wonderful teachers and administrative staff.

my daughter started sterchi at the begining of the year. Sterchi is a very small school and with that comes lots of gossip and little diversity. However I love my daughters teacher and she seems to be doing well academically, I just wished the staff would learn that just because someone is different it dosen't mean they are wrong.

I have two children currently in this school. Its small and very friendly. I like the weekly reports as they keep you updated. Im happy with Sterchi.
