This is my son's first year at Vine (7th grade) and first year in a magnet school. This year has been an absolute dream. We have struggled for years with other public schools because of the excessive amount of worksheets and homework that was required. My son is very intelligent but has ADHD, so he struggles with having tons of written work. If he's being engaged and actually learning rather than doing busy work, he does much better and that's exactly our experience with Vine. He loves every one of his teachers. He comes home everyday saying he's had a good day. He wakes up for school and doesn't dread or try to get out of going. He loves all of the different classes they offer along with the core required classes. He also attends community school where he is involved in STEM Scouts, Tech Club, and many other activities it offers. All of his teachers are very involved and provide their email address, as well as phone number to you. I have contacted a few of his teachers just checking in or asking for information, and I always get a quick reply and help. As far as socially, my son is doing very well. He's had difficult experiences in the past because he is quirky and likes things outside the norm of most kids his age. He's not had one problem at Vine, and has made many friends there. He has been accepted with open arms from the teachers and students and his self-esteem is better now than it ever has been. He is thriving in this environment and I can't express how powerful that is for our family. Caring, engaging teachers really make such a difference and I am so thankful that we decided on sending him there. My only regret is not sending him there for 6th grade.
Dedicated faculty and staff work tirelessly with limited resources to prepare students of limited resources for high school courses that will prepare them for jobs or college. Every teacher works long hours to promote student success.
My child is a student at this school. It has been a very rewarding experience for her. She is flourishing academically and personally. This school often gets a bad rap, but it really is a great school with awesome teachers. The administration could be more supportive of the staff, but otherwise it is a great school.
My daughter is a magnet student at Vine for the 2nd year now. She's a captain on the cheerleading team, and is making wonderful grades. The school along with teachers, staff and the principal are excellent. I'm very happy with her progress academically and socially there. The extracurricular activities and programs offered are excellent. I cannot say enough good things about this school to do it justice.
My daughter attended Vine as a magnet student. She had a very rewarding experience there. The teachers are uniquely caring and imaginative people who were eager to share her progress with me. Her technology and foreign language classes have given her an edge now that she is in highschool. I was afraid the diversity in the school would overwhelm her but it only helped her socially and academically.
