La Vergne Middle School

My son just completed 6th grade at Lavergne Middle and overall, we were quite impressed with what we experience. He went to elementary school in Smyrna and we moved just before the school year began. Most of the teachers cared about the students completed development-grades, social and accountability. The principal is amazing!! If your child is used to playing sports teams, you may experience some disappointment there-most of the teams are filled with 7th and 8th graders, but there are clubs and other programs to stay involved. The school (and neighborhood) is NOTHING like what here from the rest of Rutherford county (they swear the schools are OVERRUN with gangs-not true). Glad we made the move.

This school is the Worst school imaginable!! The teachers are apathetic, barely educated robots who only teach to enhance test scores so this looks like a quality school on paper. Don't be fooled!! Students are taught absolutely no critical thinking skills, in fact they are taught almost nothing of value. If you allowed your child to simply stay home and watch cartoons, they would probably learn the same amount of useless knowledge as they would sitting in any classroom in this school. It is appalling to me that this school is even allowed to continue educating as they fail miserably in every aspect. I cannot express my disgust for this school and the faculty enough!! Although, this website is making me give at least one star, I actually give this school zero stars and if possible, I would have given them a negative number

while all of these aree sortaa truee; we havee good educationn but they work us too hardd and expect to muchh of us. i mean were just in middle school.!and not everyone is perfect like they want us to be.!

i dislike the school beacuse it dose nothing for bullying and it has only one honer class.you should not send your kids to this school because they will just get talked about and the taechers will not care .

Lavergne Middle is turning into a disaster and it's not because of the teachers in my opinion - it is because of kids with horrible conduct who can't sit still long enough to learn and really don't care at all. They seem to take pride in how horrible they can act, trying to outdo the other bad kids. I rate the current state of Lavergne Middle as ZERO STARS.

I go to this school is the worst I have ever been to.There's too much bullying and the students are having their self esteem lowered.The teachers don't motivate the students to work harder.Instead,they just copy down notes and tell them to study without doing anything else.Sometimes the teachers write the students up for no reason at all.And the teachers love getting on the students' nerves.I recommend sending your child to a better school,because he/she will not have a good education here.

This school is terrible. I had to move here due to a job relocation, I was shocked at the quality of this school. The teachers are awful, no effort is made to engage kids. I'm from a state up North and I was horrified by what is considered to be quality teaching here. In Math, the kids are taught everything on calculators and are never taught to write the problem out and solve it. When you, as a parent have an issue about the way your child is being taught, you're given lip service and nothing changes. If you have a child with a learning disability or one that requires any type of special services.. good luck. Your child will be left behind to fall through the cracks. I am shocked by the things that my kids do not know. This school only teachs things that will boost their TCAP scores.

I think the administration does an adequate job based upon what they have to work with. Unfortunately, that includes uninvolved parents, inexperienced and unprofessional teachers, and unmotivated students. There is little if any homework given and no effort made to push students to excel or learn any critical thinking skills. Everything seems focused on teaching the minimal skills standards.
