This is an excellent school! The principal is fair to all students, parents, and staff The assistant principal is extremely knowledgeable about special education issues. I think she was a special education teacher! The teachers are fantastic and the students are extremely well behaved. The school is strict, but not overly so. I would bet that any negative comments come from parents of students that misbehave and have to have consequences for their actions. Keep doing what you are doing Lascassas!!!!
My rating is not based on the academic achievements of this school, which are great, but the social tyranny that exists within the walls. Out of control power has led to crumbling self esteem in the children. The same principal has reigned for too many centuries it seems. My daughter was hospitalized after constant harrasment by the vice principal. It's been a nightmare.
This will be my child's fifth year at this school, for the most part this has been a great school. Mr. Duke is a wonderful Principal and I like knowing that he runs a very tight ship! My only concern is that this school is not ADHD friendly and I find that every year it only gets worse. I find that some teachers don't want to deal with it.
There is no program for children with ADHD or or autism spectrum disorders. Very little understanding of individual/special needs of children that are not 'typical'. There is a lot of bullying in the school also.
Our daughter is a current student at LES and she likes it very much. For us, it is important to know that Mr. Duke has best interest in his students and challenges his faculty to exert their best abilities and willingness. So far, the teachers have been very creative in their class preparation. Keep up the good work!
For the most part lascassas is as good a school as any. My concern is that most of the teachers are so hostile, not friendly. If they don't like being there teaching they need to get another job! It is so important to have teachers that Love their job,to love doing what they do. It makes for a Much better school year.
I have two children at Lascassas (1st grade & 6th grade). My husband & I have been extremely impressed with the academics, sports, faculty, PTO, and the community of Lascassas. Mr. Duke has the students best interest at heart in all situations. He demands the best from his students as well as his teachers. The amount of involvement from the PTO is amazing and second to none. We love the K-8th grade concept. Mac.
I have had three children to go through this school, and all have had wonderful experiences. My oldest has significant special needs, and was treated wonderfully. It's great not having to worry about his educational program, and knowing that he's with teachers that are caring yet will push him to his potential.
I am a current student at Lascassas and I love it very much! It is definitly a great school.
iIam a former student of lascassas and it is the greatest school that there ever was...especially when Mr. Stewart was there. I graduated from there in 2004 and I now miss being there very much.
